The lawyer is standing at the gate to Heaven and St. Peter is listing his sins: Defending a large corporation in a pollution suit where he knew they were guilty. Defending an obviously guilty murderer because the fee was high. Overcharging fees to many clients. Prosecuting an innocent woman because a scapegoat was needed in a controversial case. And the list goes on for quite awhile.... The lawyer objects and begins to argue his case. He admits all these things, but argues, "Wait, I've done some charity in my life also." St. Peter looks in his book and says,"Yes, I see. Once you gave a dime to a panhandler and once you gave an extra nickel to the shoeshine boy, correct?" The lawyer gets a smug look on his face and replies, "Yes." St. Peter turns to the angel next to him and says, "Give this guy 15 cents and tell him to go to hell."

Q: What does a lawyer use for birth control? A: His Personality. Q: What can a goose do, that a duck can’t, that a lawyer should? A: Stick their bill up their ass. Q: Why did the California State Bar come out against sex between lawyers and their clients? A: They didn't want the clients to be double billed for essentially the same service.

Okay, here's my side of the story....
A source (which will go unnamed to protect him/her/them/it) called and offered to sell me one gallon bottles that aren't intended for retail sale. They're for salon use only. They were asking $80 for one gallon of my shampoo, and $95 for one gallon of my conditioner. To put that into perspective, when I buy Privé at retail in the Midwest and "import" it to the West Coast (it's even more expensive here), here's what I pay for the shampoo: 500 mL: $23.50 1 L: $37.00 Now, one gallon is basically four liters. So $80 for one gallon of the shampoo is a pretty good deal. On top of that, since I have short hair, it lasts me a long time... maybe 1 liter per year. I'm basically buying a 4-year supply here. With shipping, $200 is about what this will cost me. Since I generally wash my hair once a day, it works out to something around... 14 cents per day, and I probably won't have to buy shampoo and conditioner again until 2010. Doesn't sound so bad now, eh? Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

Eh, my hair is nothing special. But I do admit that I'm dealing in grey-market shampoo/conditioner as if it were drugs. Edit: My source just called, and we've finalized the deal. They'll try to ship the stuff Saturday morning for me, but it'll be no later than Monday. Matt, shampoo, and especially conditioner, isn't going to be GOOD for 4 years. The stuff has oils in it. It gets rancid eventually. That said, I love the smell of Prive products. I didn't think they did anything special for my hair when I was using it (yes, people, he had me sharing the million dollar shampoo ), but the smell and packaging were very enjoyable. In reality, the main function of shampoo is to break down the oils that are trapping dirt and make the gunk slippery so it can be washed away, and the point of conditioner is to restore some clean oil so your hair doesn't feel yucky. There are real limits to how much different products can affect the outcome of that process. Prive, as far as hair care, is clearly a waste of money. However, products that give you pleasure and make you feel pampered are, in my mind, valuable. These days, I'm into the Alba Hawaiian line. Cost is fine, smells like heaven, packaging is beautiful. . . perfect product for this time of year, as we head into warm weather and blooming things all around. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!
