What's Hot And What's Not?

I'm going to be 34 this year and I'm not exactly "down" with "the kids"... So what's hip and happening in the world of Planet Popular?

I've seen a lot of brown corduroy recently. Is that going to be de rigeur this summer?

What about food? What's the new faddy diet that everybody will be eating?

Is reggae finally going to make a comeback this year? I keep hearing lots of ska-type tunes, but is that passe now?

Reggae is HUGE here now. See if you can find something by Bedouin Soundclash (God, I love them), Zox, or State Patrol. I know the BSC toured the UK last winter.
It gets too hot here in the summer for corduroy, but brown is definitely a hot color.
I don't know the food trends.

See? I'd never even heard of Reggaeton until you just mentioned it. Just had a quick look at the wiki and got up to speed...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggaeton

This is a good start... I feel like I'm already learning something.

crappy music

the general trend towards dressing/acting "edgier/more punk/wannabe xcore-ish" (which translates into hot topic making even more money than usual)...such as boys wearing supertight jeans.

emo-y, fringey dyed black hair on boys & girls

i dunno if this is just where i live, but girls (and some guys) buy a TON of things from Hollister. over 3/4's of my roommate's clothes are from that store. disbelief

shrug just the things that came to mind.

isn't your hair color naturally black though? and i have nothing against long hair (i like it WAY more than very short hair), it just makes me giggle to see the hordes of little tight-jeaned waif boys with their dyed hair in their eyes whenever i go to the movies or mall.

hollister has some cute stuff...i just don't get why so many people i know wear it from head to toe. to me, it kinda seems like they're trying too hard for the "so-cal" image.

Yes... I had just found the website a few minutes ago. I thought they were selling half-naked Bruce Weber models at first.

That sort of stuff seems to have been around in the U.K. for ages now.

it's a cheaper version of abercrombie and fitch. very preppy and overpriced... though the hollisters in my area seem to go very much for the california beach bum look (I'm unsure how much of this is because I live in California).

I'm 22 and I don't know what's in, either. I see a lot of kids in my area wearing those enormously oversized shirts that are seriously dresses. my boyfriend hipped me to their proper name - "ghetto gowns." my sister also told me that the equally gigantic screenprinted pictures of mac dre (I think?) on the ghetto gowns are in.

shrug

I'm seeing a LOT of the faux emo/punk rock bullshit and I'm all madDER cause too many people are sporting the septum piercing these days. pissed
I mean, like, where is the sun?
