Nearly 9,000,000 people watched the show last night and in a population of 60,000,000 that's quite a large percentage.

The plot was a bit silly - but who cares? It's Doctor Who!!!

Frankly, I thought new Earth was rather good... The ending with the IV meds used as shower cure was a bit of a bad idea, imo, but it was a very enjoyable episode. I certainly enjoyed it more than The Christmas Episode overall. It may not have reached the heights of "Dalek" or "The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances" but it's hardly anything to 'destroy' the series.

Though, I do think if he was going to bother bring back Cassandra he could have put her to better use.

I wonder if Cassandra is really dead? Would she really have gone down so quietly, without a fight?

dr who is /was is no means camp-yes when JNT an openly gay man got his hands on it it went very camp-bonnke langford,ken dodd,nicholas parsons etc-but the premise is far far from camp

I was no fan of either of those episodes myself, but the 'casual viewer' seemed to have no trouble with them and they certainly didn't tune out afterwards. I'd estimate that it's a select, vocal group of core Dr. Who fanatics who have the bulk of the issues with these type of episodes.

There's always going to be highs and lows in any given television series. As for this latest episode, no it wasn't the best, but I liked it anyway.
