Weird things on the menu

Have you ever been to a resteraunt and saw somethinga bit unusual on the menu? I was in Barcelona in January where at a resteraunt they were serving 'Leg of kid'. eek I thought to myself. It was probably a leg of lamb or something but I was too scared to try. In another resteraunt I was served veal with what could only desribed as crips or chips if you like in a vingarette sauce. Very strange. What about you? Have you ever been served something unusual too?

that would have been some baby goat you'd think?

I'm always worried to get the noodle dish, since it always says with "noodle", not "noodles" which wouldn't be good value for money of you only got just one sad

have you tried phat phuc?

Chinese... They always have to be one worse than the Japanese. lol

One of the funniest things I've seen here was a building with "Slot Zone" written in enormous capital letters across the wall. The writing style was a bit "funky" with some letters being higher up than others. And believe it or not, only one letter got so close to the roof of the building that the top of it was cut off; the "O" in slot... smile

Yes, they do put it in pretty much all dishes, and it's always offered on the table as a condiment along with chili, sugar and vinegar.

Mon said that typically oyster sauce is used in fried dishes such as khao phad (fried rice) and phad phak (fried veggies). Basically if it's fried there's a fair chance there's oyster sauce involved, especially if the dish involves fried rice.

Most Thai food involves balancing soy sauce, fish sauce, sugar, oyster sauce and vinegar somewhere down the lines be it during the cooking process or at the table.

You get all kinds of transcriptions. With a little creativity I could be living in Swan Phuk. (Suan Phak - incidentally meaning veggie garden)
