Craigslist.com: Missed Connections

Is anyone else besides me a pathetic romantic, and therefore enjoys reading the Missed Connections postings on Craigslist.com?

Admittedly, some posts are ridiculous and crude and sometimes border on the stalkerish or the obscene. I'm sure the bulk of the ads are a fruitless effort.

But many ads seem so sincere and sweet; just random people seeking someone they'd met briefly - or didn't get to meet at all - and who they now can't get off their mind: that person they'd passed on the street earlier that afternoon who'd made them catch their breath, or who they shared a smile or a joke with as they stood in line at the grocery store before the other person disappeared out the door.

I like the notion of serendipitious meetings, and the hopeful, romantic "message-in-a-bottle" quality of the Missed Connections postings. It makes me smile.

And, of course, there's also that secret hope to one day maybe discover a Missed Connection about myself! biggrin

I read our local weekly's I Saw You ads religiously, and have been for at least 10 years. I was once convinced that was how I'd meet my future husband.

Now I come to find out he's probably been posting them on Craigslist! doh!

so what is this concept? Say I'm driving on the freeway and make eye contact with a hot guy but he takes the offramp and I continue on.....would I then post on this section and say I was driving on the freeway and if you are the hot guy I made eye contact with, email me?

I do understand about being too shy to post one...but you should try it sometime anyway, just once. Something wonderful may come of it, you never know. smile rose
