Thinking more about your question Apple, it's when things get boring or routine that the strength of the marriage is tested.
At that juncture, people may start have infidelities. That, is not restricted to
marriages..it pervades non married relationships too.
At that point also, whether to couple are able to communicate with each other is so damned important..."Honey...we're in a rut...Honey..you watch tv, and don't talk to me...etc....
