damn, maintaining [dread]locks is hard... but i still love mine!
washed my hair @ 9 pm, just finished twisting and interlocking my hair, it's 1:10am but it's so worth it you can't really see the locks right now, they're still in braids (its my way of training them) but they should be able to be worn by themselves by the end of the year if not sooner my hair growth has TRIPPLED since i stopped chemically treating it sorry, i had to gloat - i've been feeling pretty much like shit all day and this totally made me feel better goodbye flyaways and relaxers - hello beautiful and natural! Disclaimer: i am not bashing anyone that has relaxed or texturized hair, it just didnt work out for me

My locs are now shoulder length but I do dread (no pun intended) washing them. It takes forever for my hair to dry.

[Edited 4/16/06 23:51pm] my mom is like that...she'll prolly stop speaking to me for a good chunk of time (not like she's really talking to me now ) thing is, out of all 6 of us, only one of my siblings doesn't have locks, so really, she couldn't be TOO mad about it

i've noticed since i stopped the chemicals that my hair has been growing like a weed pictures! and it really is a big decision to make because once you're in, you have to be willing to commit to it to me, i think its a beautiful accomplishment more than a hair style, if that makes any sense to anyone

They were damn near permanently damp. my youngest brother Divine(no that's not his real name, but that's what he goes by..he's about 10 years older than i) has his down past his ass in the summer what he'll do when he's washed it, is if he's going somewhere he'll just hang them out the car window, let'em airdry it's the funniest sight i've ever seen but when he puts it all up in something like a bun, it's the most regal thing i've ever seen on a black man (if that makes sense?) it just looks so good! it gives him such an air of strength...hell, he'd NEED strength with his lil pencilneck here's a pic of him from a few years ago:

I'm not crazy about long hair, so I tend to like Lauryn hill style dreads. In general I think Asian Folks should steer clear of them, but I wouldn't mind rockin that look for a season or two.

"interlocking" - does that mean you have sister locks?
Loving mine too (regular salon locs), they're WAY too long & I keep threatening to cut them but I never do (they haven't hit my butt yet)... But all stages of growth are cool as shit. When they're short they're spikey & funky. The longer it gets the less full it will be, but then you can do more w/ them when they're longer (buns, wavy & wild, straight & sleek, french rolls, etc.). It's one of the best decisions I've ever made But back to the main topic - my locs are easier to care for than any other style I've had, certainly easier than a perm. It used to take me forever to retwist them but now I have it down to 45 minutes if I really hurry I usually plop in front of the tv & take my time though, takes about an hour/hour & a half... And there's always HATS . [Edited 4/18/06 0:40am]
