Does anyone write letters anymore?

I just wrote someone a 4 page letter. (On really cute stationary, BTW.)

And my hand is dying!! I had to take a break! I remember a time I HATED typing anything and all of my creative writing was first done longhand. It was way too impersonal to type it all. Now I can barely hold a pen for more than 15 minutes.

Do you write letters? smile

I write quick notes to the kid's parents but I haven't wrote a letter since...oh God knows when! Jeez...computers changed just about everything in my life. It's a shame though, handwritten letters are lovely!
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

i still write letters to my technologically challenged family members, but i always type them - it's so much easier to edit that way. redface

I have a hard enough time writing letters to people via e-mail, so it hasn't changed much for me. confused

that's one of my "things" mushy

i LOVE it when a person takes the time to write me a personal note.because anybody can type but when you sit down and write you have to think and use your
brain.
it's different.

I actually typed this one out first, then wrote it all down. Didn't want to go wasting good stationary you know. redface

One of the reasons I gave up my therapist was because she didn't have email. No joke. It bothered me that I had to actually CALL for anything.

Handwritten letters are the best. I wish I had more people to correspond with via snailmail.

I like finding a letter waiting in the mailbox - it's like receiving a present. smile I like also the personal connection: holding the paper in my hands, seeing the handwriting, knowing the writer took the time to sit down and pen the words.

Handwritten letters are romantic. There's a lot to be said for oldschool, vs. modern day technology.

This thread makes me realize I don't see many actual stationery stores anymore.

nod

It's actually quite difficult to find stationary these days. Lots of crafty things for making cards and such. But actual stationary is much more difficult.

I haven't written a letter in years!

It's funny, though... my wife's extended family is stilly really into writing hand-written letters. Usually, they're packed with hideous insults and barbs, though. lol Seriously, though... they're not a happy bunch, and I think there must be something far more cathartic about venting via the slow, drawn-out process of writing than on a zippy keyboard.

im in the process of writing a letter right now to an orger

it's nice knowing that people don't mind spending time writing their thoughts down for you and sharing them in that way

it's more personal mushy

it's just hard to get other people to do that nowadays...what with the new technology and all..

it'd be nice to receive more letters... pout

I love the idea of writing letters, and I really love getting them, but I haven't written any in a long time. I'm a terrible procrastinator and I feel guilty when I take so long to answer . boxed So I usually just call everyone on the phone or e-mail them.
I do love nice stationary though. smile

I used to love writing letters, I still do love it, I just don't do it as often, I guess the speed and convenience of typing/e-mailing/texting just takes over. There is nothing like receiving hand written letters from loved ones etc, it is always a lot more personal. I just always loved the process, picking out the stationary etc...
