The Flash the film is supposed to start Ryan Reynolds. That means it's supposed to suck. I say it should be written and directed by Kevin Smith and star Mewes.

Why does Reynolds being in it mean it will suck? He's done a couple of bad flicks, but that isn't unusual for an up-and-coming actor.
David Goyer is doing the screenplay, and I've liked most of his stuff. I personally thought Batman Begins was fantastic, and I liked the first two Blade flicks. I also really love Goyer's work on the JSA comic, so I'm a bit more optimistic than you are. As for Smith, I love his stuff too, but I don't see it. He makes smaller, dialogue driven films. He dropped out of the Green Hornet movie for this very reason. Mewes wouldn't fit any incarnation of The Flash from the comic at all. He certainly wouldn't be appropriate for Jay Garrick or Barry Allen, and he really doesn't match up with Wally West either. He matches up great to Wally. I'm sure he could draw on personal experience to play a character who constantly does his best to live up to something he's not exactly sure he's capable of, but covers the anxiety with a mile-a-minute wit. Maybe David Koepp would be a better pick for screenwriter, but I stand behind my Mewes statement over Reynolds. Have you seen Waiting? Blade: Trinity? Amityville Horror? Just Friends? Van Wilder? Anything with him in it? Minus the co-stars titties, his films are nothin. Since I don't forsee a bunch of Playboy hopefuls takin it off in the Flash feature, I'm gonna say he won't register a blip. Meanwhile, Mewes is funny, quick, newly buff and has an actual fanbase. I don't see the upside for Reynolds. | |

Don't agree at all. Sure, Reynold's has been in stinker films, but in none of those cases was the film terrible because of him. Meyes as Wally? Not even close. I don't see him physically (newly buff or not) or emotionally being anything like Wally at all.
