Sending video over the Internet?

Anybody know how to do this? I want to send some clips (approx. 5 mins. each) to a friend of mine.

Much thanks in advance,
A.C.

Thanks! Would you know how to compress files? I've recorded a TV show direct to DVD and need to extract some clips (oh yeah: need to know how to do that, too boxed) and I'm assuming I'll have to compress them to use yousendit?

Sorry, I'm clueless on all these things, but there's a tutorial over at Housequake, thanks to vc61:

1) Always convert your file to wmv. This is a popular format that will play in every Windows Media Player on a pc and is acceptable in filesize. (don’t know about Mac) Other formats (like avi) will cause more codec-problems.

2) Make sure that you don’t make your file too big. I try to get it between 5 to 10mb. (there are dial-up members, remember!) Usually, converting to wmv for broadband at 256kbps will do fine. A good & free convertor by Microsoft can be found here: http://www.microsoft.com/...fault.mspx There are better convertors available, but most of them not freeware. The one I use is Honestech MpegEncoder.

3) Very important: be sure to have a reliable webspace available! Most of the free accounts out there, like Angelfire and Lycos to name 2 of the better, could cause trouble. Believe me: I tried several and now I stick to my own isp’s space.

4) Upload the vids to your webspace. (most of the time by ftp, depends on the isp)

Update 21st april 2006:

A nice free host:

Photobucket
This popular pictures-host offers now videohosting too.
Max. filesize 100mb, monthly bandwidth 10GB.
