it is raining stars in new york!

the last two weeks, i could swing a stick and hit a few celebrities!

ryan, my best friend/next door neighbor and i decided to walk down the hudson river last week from chelsea down to the ferry, and walked right by RUPAUL (out of drag) in one of the parks.

ryan is in a show at joe's pub, which i went to last monday and monday of this week as well, partly, because i love the show, partly, because i sit in the lobby and sell copies of his just released cd for him.

last monday, who should happen to check out the show? MICHAEL STIPE of REM!! ryan, of course, gives him a free copy of thje cd. by the way, he is very nice, and far more attractive in person.

monday of this week, FRAN LIEBOWITZ (famous author), BUCK HENRY (writer/actor), and LOU REED (if i have to tell you who he is...) all watched the show. steven, my roomate, is a HUGE liebowitz fan, so ryan called him and told her she is there, so steven grabbed his first edition of one of her earlier books and goes to the pub. she smoked with ryan and i and was really really cool and very very funny. buck henry smiled at me as he walked by the cd table, and i wanted to say something, as i am a big fan, but there was an old lady who was buying a cd and talking to me non-stop, and since she bought a copy of the cd, i did not want to be rude and cut her off to meet the celebrity. lou reed sat at the booth next to mine, and seemed very jovial, but i didn't want to interrupt him, since i was right next to him for hours, which would have been akward if he doesn't like to be noticed.

and then, to top it all off, as i left my office last ngiht, i step outside the door, light up a cigarette, and nearly set HEATHER MATARAZZO ("weinerdog" from welcome to the dollhouse, as well as saved, 54, princess diaries, etc) on fire with my cigarette. wanted to say hi and tell her how much i loved her in dollhouse, but i did almost burn her, so...

That's so awesome!!! Plus, they were cool celebrities on top of it...it's not like you ran into the cast of "Saved by the Bell" or anything like that.

i ran into lou reed in NYC once, only i was more starstruck because he was with laurie anderson, who is one of my most favorite people in the whole wide world. i wanted to say hello to her, but lou is one BIG, scary looking MF, and i didn't want to risk riling him. was laurie with lou when you saw him?

lol did you ever see that "Inside the Actor's Studio" SNL skit with Toby Maquire as Skreech and Will Ferrell as James Lipton? OMFG...it was HILARIOUS...Will Ferrell was saying that one of Skreech's performances on Saved by the Bell was so good that no word in the English language could describe it...so he made one up..."Scrumtrillecent" falloff
