From your description it's impossible to tell exactly. You might have been bombarded by adaware or are completely clogged up by cookies. IE is pretty autonomous piece of software and shouldn't be affected by i.e. installlation of other conflicting programs. Keep using Firefox or Opera anyway. that was my solution when it became apparent that I couldn't get a pain-on-the-ass piece of adaware software removed from my system that made IE pretty much unusable at times.

Go to Tools/Internet Options and delete files in the cache and your cookies. If you have any anti-spyware program, run that, too. You can find out if your computer is infected by going to www.pandasoftware.com and running the free virus scan. Remember to delete your cookies before running the scan, though. Do that in Firefox as well. The Panda Active-scan mistakes cookies as spyware. If you're runing Windows XP or Windows 2000 and have a legit copy on your system, you can also get Microsoft's anti-spyware program, Windows Defender, right here.

Open up Windows Explorer or My Computer, go to Tools/Folder Options then click on the File Types tab. Check to see if GIF and JPG/JPEG file extensions are listed and what they are opened with by clicking once on each listing. It kinda sounds like some other program that you have installed has messed around with your right-click menu. Anyone else have any ideas?

Once you've ascertained that you don't have any viruses or spyware, try increasing your Temporary Internet Files cache and the number of days that files are held in memory.

It's a known problem with Windows. It does this when your hard drive is running out of space. Download this program - http://www.stevengould.or...e/cleanup/ and run it every few days.

It gives you the option to save the image as a bitmap, but when you actually go looking for it, you'll find it hasn't saved at all!

The more popular it's getting, the more flaws are being found and taken advantage of.

do I need all of these programs???? NO! It's a known issue... Look at the thread on this website I just Googled... http://www.faqs.org/qa/qa-1814.html You may have a lot of space on your hard drive but the amount of space allotted to your Temporary Internet Files is too small. This space is known as your cache... I'm putting instructions together for you right now. Hold on...

REDBABY,
Go to your desktop and right-click the Internet Explorer icon and choose "Properties": Click on the "Settings" button... Move the slider all the way to the right... Press OK. Now, click on the "Delete Files" button... Put a tick in the box which says "Delete all offline content" and press OK. Press OK again. Now, close all your browser windows and reopen them and let me know if the problem is still occuring. I do strongly advise to all of you, that you download that "CleanUp!" program and run it every few days - http://www.stevengould.or...e/cleanup/
