DiminutiveRocker said: Dan Brown said it was like watching the novel come to life... very complimentary for an author to say about a movie adaptation of his book.
I still dont think it will be as good as the book, I have my own version in my head and fear the movie will spoil that if sexy was a colour it would be red

they were fucking good books. they were page turners for real.. and the ppl who dont like Dan Brown, well doesnt matter.. they passed my time and I enjoyed reading them and discussing all the facts/fiction/possibilities later with friends and family.. if sexy was a colour it would be red

the ending of the book was crap, so I bet the film won't be much better.....and Hanks won't be adding to it....
I will see it though. | |

I will see it though. Harsh words abierman - so why will you go see it? because I read the book, the concept of the book is an interesting (controversial) one.....I liked the book, until the end which was disappointing.....can't see how the movie would change that. Also, I wanna see what the Vatican will be pissed about! [Edited 4/25/06 12:26pm]

Well,
to add to this mishmash of opinions, I loved the book! The momemtum was definitely there, whether the writing was great or not. Interesting that other people dont think Hanks is perfect for the role, I too was disappointed when he was announced I had envisaged someone maybe not quite as adventurous as Harrison Ford...but maybe with a bit more something to him like Gabriel Byrne Thats who I had in my head anyway! I hope the movie wont disappoint, there are so many people with high hopes for it!

Gabriel Byrne would have been a better choice, yes.....but he already was in that Stigmata-movie and that crap one with Ahnold.....also about religion, so I can see why they didn't pick him.

Usually that sort of thing sticks with actors, though, dont you think? It could have gone either way - he couldve been offered the same roles for the rest of his career or he couldve never done anything like it again. I havent heard any gossip on the matter, but I would imagine anyone who was offered the role wouldve seen it's potential and not turned it down!

i just want this whole Da Vinci Code project to go away already
it's getting on my last nerve. i don't like the book at all and i hate that it became such a success more than a year after i'd initially read it (got it the day it first came out) and filed it under "ok but a complete re-write of "Holy Blood Holy Grail" with a very thin sugar coating and a horrible horrible ending.. having said that, i am looking forward to go see the movie cuz i'm just contradictory like that and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

OMG my sister suggested that and Gabriel would be more credible to that part rather than Hanks IMO if sexy was a colour it would be red

Is it cos she is one of Jesus' ancestors, and you found that far fetched, or cos it ended abruptly, or other? it's the fact that you can see the end coming a mile off. because of the way it's written and all fingers point in one direction. having read holy blood holy grail years before it was clear that the end would be the revealing of at least one of them to be a decendant of christ. the same thing goes for "Digital Fortress", it's a nice enough book up until about halfway and then you just know how it's gonna end in every detail. although i have to hand it to Dan Brown, he manages to end each and every chapter with a bit of a cliffhanger and it does make you keep on reading, even if you wouldn't really want to. i think he's crap to be honest, but he's a master at making you read his crap and true love lives on lollipops and crisps
