There's a half-eaten Donner Kebab in my kitchen. I've only eaten chicken and fish for months now - and I even feel guilty about that. I had a bit to drink yesterday and have a vague recollection of buying takeaway food. I'm really mad at myself. I'm just glad that I don't appear to have eaten more than half of it.

I had a baby seal pup steak the other night.

I know hhow it feels, I used to be a vegetarian from 1999-2003 and now I eat fish sometimes but I always have a craving for lamb and döner kebap. Anyway, even if you usually don´t eat meat, once you´ve bought it you might as well enjoy it at least...throwing it away is ethically not much better than eating half a döner kebap.


By the way, döner kebaps in London are among the worst ones on this planet.It´s interesting how different they taste from shop to shop and from country to country, or from city to city.

A good one should consist of :

- good meat, not minced stuff...either lamb or beef
( the meat has to be marinated in a special onion/yoghurt mix overnight)

- tomatoes, onion slices, parsley, cucumber, lettuce, red cabbage, coleslaw

- a good sauce ( yoghurt with garlic...called tsatsiki..though the real deal is of course different...what they give you at the shops is actually "haydari", not real tsatsiki).

- some hot sauce if you like

- good pita bread, not that flat and crusty stuff
