Were you at any key events in history?

I cant see any of us being at the last supper but have any of you been witness to any key events in history? Where were you? What did you think at the time? Have you got pics? Large or small tell us all...

I was at Wembley Stadium watching Madonna's Blond Ambition tour, on the night that she said "fuck" about fifty times, live on BBC Radio One.

That's about as historical as it gets.

Oh. I was in Manchester the day it got blown up by the I.R.A. But I left by bus about thity minutes before it happened.

I was there at the birth of my child, who is the most beautiful person ever born. (My wife and I are tied for a close second.bitchfight)

...That aside, the closest I've come is crashing a wedding recpetion on the top floor of the New York World Trade Centers about 1 1/2 months before 9/11. shrug Not too big, I'm afraid.

The hoax of a picture showed up on the internet not too long after the actual event. One site even went as far as putting him in pictures of many historical events like in the back of President Kennedy's convertible and in front of an exploding Hindenburg. lol

9/11 was enough for me.

I don't care if I ever see anything "historical" again.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

I was staying at a friend's around the corner from the house that Elian Gonzales got taken from when the US government returned him to his father in Cuba; there was like ZERO free speech in Miami for about 2 weeks after that, with people picketing everywhere with signs that said Janet Reno and Bill clinton were communists...I saw people literally thrown out of stores for suggesting in casual coffee talk conversation that Elian's father had a right to raise him eek

I was having breakfast on Ocean a block from Gianni Versace's house when he got shot in the head...it was a particularly weird experience for me because 1. I freelanced with the Versaces as a assistant before on some of their Miami ad campaigns. 2. Up to that moment, after seven years of living in Miami Beach and seeing royalty, celebrities, and jet setters comb the streets unprotected and unfettered I just KNEW from that moment on EVERYTHING in Miami Beach had changed. Miami Beach was such a casual, low key enclave, a lot of us (residents) saw the crime scene long before the police sealed it with tape, we saw his blood and brains on the stairs and his flip flop lying there, while we waited patiently and respectfully for Homicide to make their way through the throng of locals. On a more bizarre note there was one flipped out fashionista queen clutching a Versace ad to himself that he raked across some of the blood and was crying hysterically, but beyond that we were just all kinda stunned and silent. It was jsut so violent, over-the-top, so UN-South Beach, and sure enough, within a year South Beach started to take on a Disneyland atmosphere that I detest to this day. People actually POSE in front of the gate where Gianni got his brains blown out confused I just always remember how long it took them to get the bloodstains off the stairs and sidewalk, and I cringe everytime I see people standing on those steps smiling for pictures- it's macabre...
