Your "Good Day"...

Imago made me think of this...

What would be your "good day", what would it consist of?...I'm not talking about your "perfect day", so no "Win the lottery, fly to Hawaii" type responses lol....Just a really good, normal day, full of things that are in your immediate vicinity...a day you could go out and experience now if you wanted. What would it be like? hmmm

Mine:

Get up early
Go out for breakfast
Go to my favorite mall and just look around (maybe even buy something)
Hang out in a bookstore for a bit, buy a new novel
Hang out in an art store for a bit, buy some new supplies
Buy a Coke
Glance at attractive women with nice legs
Hang out in a record store for a bit, buy a CD version of an old vinyl lp I own but haven't listened to in 20 years
Go out for lunch
Call up my daughter, smile as she says "I love you...MUAH" (that's our 'thing' mushy )
Text message friends
Go back home, hang on the Org for a little
Talk in IMs with a friend
Buy a Coke
Grab my camera, and head out someplace to catch the sunset
Rent a few movies on my way home, and buy some beer
Order a pizza when I get home, extra cheese a must
Watch the movies, eat pizza and drink beer
Text message friends during the movie
Call my daughter to say goodnight, hear her say "I love you...MUAH!" mushy
Download my photos and see what I've got
Go online and read the L.A. Times
Hang out on the Org for a few before going to bed
Go to bed

There are obviously different things I could add/delete (go to the ocean instead of going to the mall, for example)...

So, what would your Good Day be like? smile

I'm in no way meaning to point fingers here, but isn't it a little perplexing that buying more crap to clutter our lives with is such a "happy" activity?

My IDEAL happy day would be..
* to finally just appreciate the crap I have,
* come to terms with, and get rid of as much of the crap I'll never use as I can,
* buy NOTHING... except maybe a huge plate of vegetarian sushi sushi

Not sure if you mean me, but I don't think buying music, buying something to read and entertain my mind/imagination, and buying something to create with would fall under the catagory of "crap".

Nor would buying a Coke. cool

Today has been a pretty good day so far. I got up and went out for my favorite weekend breakfast (egg and cheddar on a rosemary olive oil bagel w/red peppers, onions and chipotle sauce and a nice english breakfast tea with milk and sugar) and read the paper. Then I went shopping at target and got a kick ass pair of skinny jeans, a CD (on sale!), a web cam and some other needed household items. I came home and set up the webcam, orged a bit. I walked to the little store by my house and bought a yummy mango naked juice. I talked to my upstairs neighbor who is working on all the landscaping in our shared backyard and he put down seeds and mulch and stuff for a whole bunch of wildflowers to grow all along the walk to my private entrance to my apartment. touched How sweet!! He also mentioned he and his roomie are gonna grill out tonight and invited me up for dinner. I like nice neighbors. I'm gonna call a few friends soon and take a walk around the lake (with or wihtout them. lol.). I'll likely watch some tv later and read a bit before bed.

Nice day.

woot!...Nice day, indeed. nod

I've been ultra-lazy so far today... lol...I've showered, shaved, dressed, and ate breakfast (two eggs, two pieces of toast, and a Coke..lol). Other than that, I've done little beyond check on my photo ratings at a photo site I belong to (I can put photos up to be critiqued and rated), and come back here from time to time...oh well, it's still been a pretty good day cuz I'm in the mood to do abso-stinkin-lutely nothing..lol smile

OK, let's change the word "crap" for "stuff."

After having worked a retail job for a couple of years and acquiring so much stuff -- books, music, DVDs -- really good stuff, the best fiction, non-fiction - the most well-rounded music collection I know of... I now work a boring office job. Yet, still when I think of ~the weekend~ and what I'd like to do on my off-time the urge to splurge on MORE stuff seems unavoidable. Yet, in my 30s, I don't think I have enough time left to fully enjoy the stuff I already have. Just chilling out seems so uncomfortable.

Maybe I'm just nuts, but I don't think I'm alone on this.

I can understand what you're meaning...with me, I've never been the type to buy a lot of stuff (or crap..lol), so when I do buy something as simple as a CD, It's only seen as something that can help set the atmosphere in my home when needed. I also draw, so when I buy art supplies, it's not seen as unnecessary or just more of the same...quite the opposite. Art supplies don't last indefinitely, you always need to replenish them. As for books...I'm a ferocious reader when I let myself take the time to do so...I'd love to have my own library filled with hundreds and hundreds of books, with only half of them read. Lock me away in there and I'll be good for the entire weekend...lol...so buying another book to bring me closer to that goal isn't seen in my eyes as a waste of time.

the sun is shining!! sun

my huband offers to make the boys lunches and take them to school (actually

this would be more of a fantasy, it has never happened yet!)

I do an amazing design for a client within an hour and the client LOVES it - this one actually happens!!

I visit the library and they have some CDs and magazines I like, and a book I've always wanted to read. I go to Brotherhood of St Laurence and they have practically new jeans that fit as if they were made for me, and school shoes for the kids.

I have the right ingredients in the cupboard without needing to shop to make a great dinner everyone will love.

My middle child will enjoy said dinner without moaning and repeatedly sliding under the dinner table

I fall asleep straight away and sleep 8 hours without waking up once.

This day would be so great!!
