Making my grocery list...

What should I get? So far:

Milk, OJ, V8
fruit, vegetables
bread, crackers
grits (for Drew), oatmeal (for me)
meat- deli lunch meat and cheese, ground turkey (we've been using ground turkey instead of beef and it's great!)

We've been eating well- avoiding trans fats and cholesterol. We're kind of over the same menu and need some healthy eating ideas. Got any suggestions?

Instant on both. I use non-instant oats for cookies but love short cuts in the morning.

I've never had polenta but I watched Martha make it on her show. What do you eat it with?

well you can eat it warm right sorta like a mealy oatmeal right? I put a little bit of chicken stock (or broth) and salt butter heavy cream...and it comes out this creamy bowl of gooodness...or!

you can use it as a great veggietarian dish right...you season em up and then put it on a tray and let it cool it becomes hard right...then you can cut out little circles or shapes right...and then you put grilled veggies ontop and stack em and melt a little bit of cheese on top and drizzle it with balsamic vinnegarette (sp?) Its quite tasty specially for veggietarians...

or!!!

you can cook it up add heavy cream brown sugar a little bit of maple syrup and some other stuff I dont remember but it comes out this sweet creamy goodness

I loves it

lately I've been hooked on Kozy Shack Rice Pudding

it has no trans fat smile It's not too sweet either, which is why I'm shocked I even like it. I like adding strawberries to mine and eating it as a light dessert. They have different kinds too.....original, European style, and cinnamon raisin. I usually get the original, but the cinnamon raisin isn't bad either. I haven't tried the Europpean style yet. They even have a sugar free one if you're really watchin' it, but the regular kind is pretty healthy. The same brand makes tapioca pudding and I think that one has 0 trans fat too.

You need pasta. I couldn't live without it. It's cheap, versatile and filling. I can happilly eat a bowl of linguini with nothing but fried onions and fried onions stirred in.

That's what they did on Martha's show- poured the polenta out to dry and then cut it out. I'd like to try some with the chicken stock. YUM! Sounds more like a dinner side dish than a breakfast food.

We love and eat a lot of pasta. Another good quick dish is spaghetti tossed in olive oil with bacon and lots of parmesan cheese! You sould try it!

(*you cook the bacon pieces in olive oil and add the pasta once cooked)

I'm sort of only eating poultry and fish at the moment. I guess I could use smoked turkey and augment it with soya Baco-Bits.

drool I LOVE it!....especially when it's nice and warm with cream or rum sauce on it. My aunt makes the best bread pudding, but it's been years since I've had hers because she lives in Jersey.
