Listen, what you're talking about is just ridiculous. The city needs a comprehensive transit system, and trust me it's light years beyond where I come from. Submitting ourselves to hardship isn't going to change a damn thing. This aint Montgommery Alabama, this is LA. LA is so obscenely huge. Submitting ourselves to hardship isn't going to change a damn thing. This aint Montgommery Alabama, this is LA. LA is so obscenely huge. Please yes, i know all about LA being a car city. i also know public transport in the city sucks ass. you're missing the point entirely, though. if you refrained from jumping down my back after my first post on this thread and instead actually read and comprehended what i wrote, you would have seen there was no need to get salty with me in the first place. a) not everybody on this thread lives in LA. b) i specifically said, "if it is at all possible." c) why is the city going to push for mass transit when it obviously "doesn't need it" since everyone is content with driving. if you don't make a fuss, that translates to "we don't really need it." when was the last time you became involved with an organization pushing for mass transit in LA? if it was recently, great! i'm thrilled you're actually doing something. if not, you need to check yourself before you come at me with some kind of attitude for stating the obvious. its just funny to me, the whole thing. the country moans and bitches about gas prices yet SUV sales remain the same and sales of hybrid cars are not so hot. in general, it just sounds like a lot of whining but little push for change. I'm also working on trading off my piece of shit car for a small 4-cylinder car.
I'm trying to improve my situation. Good for you. Consider a hybrid... really saves a lot of $$ and hassle. Except for the fact that it takes 5 to 7 years to start saving money on gas because of the extra expense upfront. They charge an extra estimated $5,000 extra for a comparable non-hybrid car. There is a reason they have become the car of the wealthy. . [Edited 4/20/06 18:18pm]

[Edited 4/20/06 18:27pm] Yes I did. I had already commented before I was asked for it. It's a shitty job and it makes no difference what so ever who does it as evidenced by the 4 different people in the last administration who did the job. 2 1/2 years seems to be the magic number.

As much as I have love for y'all, and ESPECIALLY my org brothas and sistas in BIIIG spread out cities like LA and so on....
...that's really not a lot of money ... NO! Honestly! I know you're thinking that I've lost my mind, but gas prices across the pond are SOOO exorbitant, people over here have been fed up for YEARS. Case in point, at the beginning of this week, gas in Germany topped at $6.32 cents a gallon, in England nearly $7.50, and in Scandanavia nearly $9.00...y'all have it GOOD compared to the rest of the globe ! Basically we are at a point where demand is outstripping the world supply, and now that China is becoming more and more industrialized, with a population of a billion people, they are making friends with everyone that we've burned bridges with and getting their crude on, so to speak. Just this week they announced a partnership with the Nigerian government to invest in African medical and educational infrastructure in exchange for the oil they need to keep their burgeoning economy on the rise...so yeah, it's expensive, although I heard that they're trying to fix it in Washington, although, ultimately how are they going to do this?
