I knew who almost everyone was at my high school, at least their names. I can't tell you how many times I met people (in college I roomed with a popular guy from my high school) whose face & name I knew who asked me "You went to Santa Monica High?" I was apparently like white paint. Meanwhile, I have people who recognize me from high school (and elsewhere) and I've no idea who they are. It happens fairly regularly. It's not that I'm rude, I just kind of live in my own world sometimes. And I think my red hair makes me recognizable. lol. I know! Why don't you remember me?! My Legacy

For all I know these were people who were total assholes to me the last time I saw them. . . I don't know you! Go away! oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

Totally. It was funny, 'cause I actually did a lot of my theater stuff with a group in the next town over, so when I'd go back THERE it would be mostly older folks who would stop me. "Hey, you, weren't you so-and-so in such-and-such?" I don't know you! Go away! I played some scary evil character in some damn thing, and one time a little girl saw me in a grocery store and remembered me, and went running to hide behind her mother. That was kinda sad. And now I'm blissfully anonymous. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

Moderator | My highschool was super small I'm not sure we had "popular" and "unpopular" kids. I had enough friends to keep me busy, I talked to just about everyone. But I guess I was a bit of a weirdo too, drama geek, school newspaper etc. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

I went to a very small Jr. High, but a large High School. I definitely preferred the big school. There wasn't just one "cool crowd" and one "nerd crowd," etc. There were lots of crowds and more space to fit in somewhere. Of course I also hated the Jr. High years & might have been miserable anywhere. My Legacy

But I was happy to go to a big High School and get out of not only the small school with the same 200 students I'd known my whole life, but the small town as well. Though commuting 25 miles to it wasn't that fun! My Legacy

Our high school started in 10th grade, so my parents let me drive to school as soon as I turned 16 (!?) on a very dangerous road. So not much bus time for me, but I started my road rage at a young age. I often drove it twice (x 2) a day on the weekends! [Edited 4/20/06 14:03pm] My Legacy

The rest of us (12 guys and 16 girls) had pretty much gone to school together since Kindergarten. I think everyone except maybe 3-4 still live in our hometown, are married with kids. They still "cruise the loop" and drink beer for fun on the weekends just like we did in high school. When I go back for xmas, they are still talking about the big football season of '91 or prom '92... It's like Michael Rappaport's character's line from Beautiful Girls, "Nothing changes in the valley but the seasons." ~spelling/grammar edit~ [Edited 4/20/06 15:47pm] The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found.
