IIRC, it depends on the version you are running. iTunes for Mac OS X supports the iPod and a couple dozen other MP3 players. iTunes for Windows only supports the iPod (officially, there may be hacks). Either way, songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store only work with iPods.

If theyre all just ripped from CDs and downloads you should be able to change them into mp3s. This might work: Go into the folder where they are stored, select them all, right click, and it should ask you something like open with, or play with, and choose windows media player, or another mp3 player you use. But not itunes. You can somehow change the default player to the mp3 player as opposed to itunes, then they will just be mp3s and you can get another mp3 player. theres an easy way to change it, I just cant put it into words...
Sorry if thats gobbledegook! Failing that, go into the shop where you want to buy the player, or just dixons or somewhere, and ask them Theyll know.

Well, I went with the iPod as it just seemed like the best bet for the money and it's the easiest one to find good accessories for in practically any store. If you go with another device, though, you'll either need to come up with some hack to use iTunes with it or move all your mp3's to a different piece of software.

They put out more than enough volume! In fact, the latest models just got a firmware update with a "volume limiter" so kids don't kill their ears. ...and yes, you can indeed jog with them. Just make sure you've got a good holder for them so they don't end up kissing the pavement.
