can we discuss "sopranos" 4/16/05 so i'm sitting there watching the sopranos....(total HBO soap opera....maybe we can call it "liquid dish" soap opera, since i totally dislike daytime soaps).
so this episode is so focused on vito. i'm wondering what vito is gonna do. it's obvious he is more important to the family than a pawn on a chess board. tony is feeling some concern over the move he should make in this situation. meadow added more fodder to the situation by telling carmella about the "finn, vito encouter"... so i'm absorbing all this and wondering where the next episode is gonna take me in regard to meadow working in the law office...and the two new characters... is meadow getting ready to be tested? is her youthful inexperience (and innocence) going to pull yet another brick out of the soprano wall? we have to wait and see...(anyone casting bets on tony's next move?) but as i end these (my) thoughts on tonite's sopranos... . a question came to mind re: vito in the antique shop.... the sales man seemed to be gay.... my question surrounds some historical issues regarding movie and television casting... historically movies depicting stories about the wild west and native americans, never casted authentic native americans in the roles until the 70's or so... this also was a problem (historically) for roles depicting asians. my question...when type casting and auditioning the character for a role involving a gay person, does the person playing the role have to actually be gay.... this is something i've wondered about...but then....perhaps i digress.... "got to be real....got to be real"... [Edited 4/16/06 20:42pm] i love you for who you are, not the one u feel u need to be.

i haven't seen the episode, but in response to tamaranow's question, rarely are the people who play gay characters actaully gay. at least historically. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

The Sopranos was my last bastion for homosexual free television(24 was as well untill the Sec. of Defense's son ended the season with that whopper!) Then there was the Vito/Finn incident...I brushed that off but it returned with a vengance not unlike that of Miss Claiborne(Doloris that is)! I really can do without this storyline but maybe it'll end up being for the good...who knows...

[Edited 4/16/06 20:42pm] It would be ridiculous if actors had to be gay to play 'gay'. It would severely limit the talent pool that producers would be picking from. Meadow and AJ aren't even Italian in 'real' life. I'm not sure why anybody would be threatened by this storyline. [Edited 4/18/06 18:49pm]
