yeah...I lived with three other girls my freshman year and one of them was bipolar. She was on medication, so it was hard to tell what her symptoms were. I had no clue that she was even bipolar until she told us. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

well i know there are several levels to it and all the symptoms....its just that I wanted to know if someone here suffers from it. My dr has recommended that I see a psychologist to get evaluated because I exhibit a lot of the symptoms. I am not scared nor embaress to talk about it because i have sufffered from severe depression and a lot of teenagers do. I was just curious thats all.

i have a few friends that have bipolar disorder. some take medication, some don't. hopefully someone, that shares your symptoms/diagnoses, will respond. i think it's difficult for those who don't experience depression to really relate to what you might be going through. i think you're on the right track tho.

That explains lots about her. and Bucket, if you are worried that you have this, then go see someone. Either you'll get treatment that will help you or your fears will be squashed and you won't have to think about this anymore. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

I know that if you take care of it NOW, the chances of you controlling IT are much higher. Acknowlegement is half the battle. My mom suffered from it. Of course this was back in the day where they gave you Thorozine and other crappy meds that threw your body out of whack. Things are much more easily controlled these days. Ah, that's a rough one. I'm not bipolar, but I have had reason to learn a bit about it.
I think it's really great that you're open and not ashamed of the possibility, or of your depression. People need to talk about this stuff if we're ever going to ditch the social stigma surrounding mental health issues and care. THANK you. The meds have gotten a lot better in recent years. Don't worry if you have to try different meds/combos, or if you have to adjust them over time. It's just the nature of something that is controlled, rather than cured. . . oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

Bipolar: named because of the extream degrees to which the person suffering from it experience. Deep Dark Depressions and Elation Elevated States of mind are commonly experiences with a person suffering from Bipolar disorder. Such swings can lead to a disconnection from the common norm, shared reality, and can lead to Manic Mondays, or manic day or mania.
I tend to lean toward behaviorist psychology. They state that the conditions we undergo through our psychie are a direct result to what we do to ourself mentally. Common traditional psychology would state it is a chemical imbalance in the person's mind, however the behaviorist would say the chemical imbalance is a direct result of thinking patterns and mental processes. Sometimes I wonder if I have it since I can feel incredibly low and then a couple of days later wake up and feel so happy.

That's just being a teenager. I wouldn't worry about it unless you are feeling suicidal.

my brother was diagnosed as bipolar several years ago. with lots of therapy and some meds he fought his way back and is doing well now. a major challenge in life may very well cause it to flare up again, but for now, i'm very happy for him and tremendously proud.
best of luck to you, BBB!

no thats not it...unless you have had a major tragic event happen to you with in the last six months are under extreme doses of stress (a lot of hw is not one of them) then you are just like anyone else..we have our good days and our bad days...I on the other hand have days that I have this nasty atittude and the littlest things will piss me off and I will get mad out of anything...for example...the other day i was so pissed about a sweater falling off the hanger i ripped everything down and i had all my clothes on the floor..like its really retarted..i get mad for no reason...or ill be so upset ill start crying hysterical for nothing. Example..I was watching ice age....ok...uhhh ICE AGE....i bursted into tears and i was relating to a friggen mamoth....then there are times I feel so friggen insane my thoughts are fast quick I Cant concentrate I talk really fast and I feel sooooo good...I feel so self confident its like a caffine high times a billion. Its a really wweird feeling...i can be like that and then just crash...I dont have suicide thoughts...I would never but my mood swings are unbearable (sp?) Its not easy to diagnose this everyone kept on telling me i had depression.

That's just being a teenager. I wouldn't worry about it unless you are feeling suicidal. Ok, that said, anybody who thinks they might have a mental health issue should go and talk to a professional. For me, the difference between feeling down and being truly depressed was the complete lack of energy. It felt like running out of fuel. Not like I didn't WANT to do things, but like I COULDN'T. . . I remember being at work one day and needing to lift something up onto a shelf, and just not being able to do it. But it varies from person to person. . .
