TV Talker Had No Guilt Returning From Africa


Oprah Winfrey doesn't feel she has anything to apologize for just because she's richer than most everyone else.

People magazine reported that Winfrey told a fundraiser in Baltimore that she's not one of those people who feels they have to "renounce" their riches.

Winfrey said she has "a closet full of shoes and it's a good thing."

She said a rich friend once asked if she felt guilty as they were returning from Africa.


Winfrey said she told her friend, "I do not know how me being destitute is going to help" the less fortunate.

She said when she got home, she went to sleep on her designer sheets.



So do she and other millionaires should feel guilty??

she shouldn't feel guilty, but a little bit of humility is never an unattractive trait.

she shouldn't feel guilty, she's worked hard, although I agree with Anxiety about the humilty, the designer sheets comment was tacky to be honest..

I dont think she should feel guilty because she came from worse than nothing, and shes made all this for herself just as she dreamed she would. She DOES donate an awful lot of money to charity, and the rest is up to her. Its not like she keeps it ALL for herself and flaunts it, she is a humanitarian person and she deserves what she worked for...

Guilty about what? People that start fake ass wars should feel guilty.

The people who overpaid her should apologize. A doctor who works in an urban city should get paid her money. Same for a teacher. Same for a cop/firefighter/emt/corrections officer.

Celebrities are just overpaid, plain and simple imho

I fail to see just what makes Oprah such a celebrity. I mean, I assume she has made some smart business decisions, and I do not fault her for that. But what the hell has she really done? Some feel good daytime talk show? Please. She's already shown what she thinks of the common folk. Do you think she'd be doing all those "take the audience out shopping" shows if she didn't get ratings? Helllll no. Like I said, I don't hate on her, just still trying to figure out what the hell SHE DOES.
