I usually buy a few that are ripe and a few that are green. So they last, ya know.

How to eat a banana at work without drawing attention to yourself, its a difficult fruit to eat sometimes.

eat it politely? peel it quickly and scoff it down before anyone notices? the agony...

To avoid all the awkward embarrassment at work, use the Mrs. Bobbit method, slice the banana wink

Lessen your agony smile

I'm allergic to bananas. They have too much something inside them and they make my mouth feel like they're burning.

I do like the taste though and I love synthetically-flavoured banana sweets and drinks.

I usually only peel a little bit and then break that piece off and pop it in my mouth. Then repeat.

the breaking off technique is good nod

and you dont have to deal with the banana in mouth scenario just as your work colleague walks over to ask you something.

tomatoes and bananas do something weird to the roof of my mouth - it feels like it has shrivelled up all the skin.

I like them yellow with just a hint of green near the top so they will last until I eat all of them.

OMG! Tomatoes do the same thing to me too! Not as severely as bananas do, but it feels like a weaker version of the same effect. If I have a salad with tomatoes on, I'll scoop the seeds out and discard them. If the tomatoes are in a casserole or chilli, I don't notice it. But raw tomatoes... Even with the seeds scopped out, they make my mouth and throat feel slightly "itchy".

I'd love to know what this substance is we are allergic to - mine is only slight, the riper the banana the weaker the effect for me. hmmm

I bought some organic bananas last month, and they took FOREVER to ripen.

Once they did, though, they were absolutely delicious.
