Knew you'd find it interesting there. Can't wait for the pictures! Yeah, I'm going to try to get my ass in gear and post some pics soon. I do have some already, but I'd rather wait until I have a few that can do this area justice. [Edited 4/17/06 4:15am]

Every time they call me that it makes me feel like Mr Miyagi. Your descriptions make me feel like I'm there.
I'm glad to hear that. How large is your apartment? I hear they're very small in Japan.
Well, most aren't that small but there are few very huge apartments available, so what you heard is right in that sense. I'm a meter man and not a foot man, so all I can tell you is that my apartment is 41 m2. Not bad at all for one person, methinks. Are the panties in the machine of good quality?
I've tried to find out but like I said earlier on this thread, there just aren't any such vending machines around. I've talked to people who have lived in Tokyo for years and years and hung out in both nightclub areas and other seedy places but nobody seems to ever have seen one. That being said, they might exist in special fetish stores somewhere. How often do people need fresh panties over there?
More often than they brush their teeth I think. Their dental hygiene is generally terrible. Floss is unheard of. If you get the sniffles, can you stay home from work because it's rude to blow your nose?
Unfortunately not, because it isn't rude to wipe your nose. Or you could let it drip into your face mask that you most likely will be wearing if you have a cold. If I get on a bus I'd say at least two or three people on average will be wearing face masks to protect their fellow citizens from the cold they're having. It's incredibly considerate but looks a bit eerie. How old are your students?
They're junior high school students, so 12-14. I will also teach a day or two at kindergarten (which will be fun) but it's junior high for most of the year. They're generally very well-behaved but sometimes they can be a bit mischievous. Especially the girls actually.

Not yet. It won't be until a month from now, I think. And then the next time will be even further off in the future. It'll be fun when it happens though, and will probably feel like a welcome break from the teenagers. oh and.....
happy easter retina! Happy Easter to you too! I actually forgot about easter this year. Since they don't celebrate it here at all, there was nothing to remind me that it was happening.

You can call it "cool" and "interesting" and "fascinating" and be dead right. However, on a different day you might want to call it "unbearable", "fascist" and "oppressive" and be just as right.

They don't. And the Japanese teacher that I work with is responsible for disciplining them the few times it's actually needed, so I can just relax and be the "good cop".

I missed you, sugar! it all sounds fun!
Yeah, it is mostly fun. Today the other teachers made me eat "nato", which was fermented beans mixed together with some kind of unidentifiable syrupy substance. When they were done laughing at my attempts to swallow the third bean (out of the 50 or so they had served me) they gave me a "rice sweet" which came wrapped in a leaf. The "sweet" itself looked a little bit like a rotting cow tongue and tasted like rice gone bad. It was still kind of fun though. Especially the discussion (in gestures/English/Japanese) that followed the three questions that everybody asks me, no matter if they're male or female, young or old: 1. How old are you? 2. Are you married? 3. Do you like Japanese women? make sure you take pictures of your students and the food to!
I'll take some of the food. I can't take pictures of the students though. It's against school rules.
