And a splatter screen, silly! It's amazing to me how many people don't own these things:

I didn't even know such a thing existed until I was 25 years old. boxed

A lot of people don't know about them. Jamie and I decided that it's a white trash thing. If your mom didn't cook lots of Hamburger Helper when you were growing up, you've prolly never seen a splatter screen. lol

And Wentworth, you ain't white trash. mr.green

I didn't know they existed! lol

And I can see how they would be helpful, though I don't cook anything that really spatters, lol.

As for veggie burgers, I prefer mine sort of toasted. So they're almost crispy on the outside. I make them in my toaster oven. smile

I just, I hate when they are mush. I could never, ever eat a veggie burger out of the microwave. barf I like them to be nice and firm. Before my toaster oven, I'd occasionally throw them in my actual toaster. But I don't like cooking them in there cause it gets all gunked up and stuff.
In any case, It's not super crispy, per se... just, you know, like a hashbrown patty. A little crisp and sealed on the outside. Browned, if you will. lol

I guess I like them like that too, but greasy, hence the skillet/splatter screen. lol

Boca Burgers are really much, much better cooked in a skillet, actually. boxed But it doesn't take that long, and you don't have the grease issue ('cause vegetable oil is liquid at room temperature).

They do taste better if prepared in a skillet, and perhaps I don't have to worry about clogging the kitchen sink. However, hot grease splatters are still an issue. I have burned myself (very minor burns, to be sure) and ruined clothes by cooking Boca burgers in a skillet.

Maybe I just need to buy an apron. lol

Try turning the heat down on the stove, in turn it will not make the skillet as hot, and in turn that will not make the grease splatter as much...I mean I don't cook, but I am just going by science and what happens to grease when it gets hot.... giggle

You may be onto something... I mean, I still remember the Wendy's grill rap (okay, I have a bootleg DVD of it) boxed :

"With a grill that's set at 2-5-0 / And your meat and cheese that's ready to go...."

I'm sure that my skillet was hotter than 250 degrees F.

Fun fact: 50% of all CEO's started working at minimum wage. And that's where they started me... it was $4.25 an hour back then.

Neither are you a CEO...so I don't see what this fun little fact has anything to do with the fact that you don't use your brain.
