I didn't even know such a thing existed until I was 25 years old. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

I didn't even know such a thing existed until I was 25 years old. A lot of people don't know about them. Jamie and I decided that it's a white trash thing. If your mom didn't cook lots of Hamburger Helper when you were growing up, you've prolly never seen a splatter screen. And Wentworth, you ain't white trash. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

As for veggie burgers, I prefer mine sort of toasted. So they're almost crispy on the outside. I make them in my toaster oven. |

I like them to be nice and firm. Before my toaster oven, I'd occasionally throw them in my actual toaster. But I don't like cooking them in there cause it gets all gunked up and stuff. In any case, It's not super crispy, per se... just, you know, like a hashbrown patty. A little crisp and sealed on the outside. Browned, if you will. |

I guess I like them like that too, but greasy, hence the skillet/splatter screen. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

matt said: HereToRockYourWorld said: Boca Burgers are really much, much better cooked in a skillet, actually. But it doesn't take that long, and you don't have the grease issue ('cause vegetable oil is liquid at room temperature).
They do taste better if prepared in a skillet, and perhaps I don't have to worry about clogging the kitchen sink. However, hot grease splatters are still an issue. I have burned myself (very minor burns, to be sure) and ruined clothes by cooking Boca burgers in a skillet. Maybe I just need to buy an apron. Try turning the heat down on the stove, in turn it will not make the skillet as hot, and in turn that will not make the grease splatter as much...I mean I don't cook, but I am just going by science and what happens to grease when it gets hot....

You may be onto something... I mean, I still remember the Wendy's grill rap (okay, I have a bootleg DVD of it) : "With a grill that's set at 2-5-0 / And your meat and cheese that's ready to go...." I'm sure that my skillet was hotter than 250 degrees F. [Edited 4/13/06 21:59pm] Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

Fun fact: 50% of all CEO's started working at minimum wage. And that's where they started me... it was $4.25 an hour back then. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |
