Turkish Coffee (Altered Recipe Experiment)

I just made the best coffee drink I think I've ever tasted, based on Turkish coffee! If you've ever had it - it is super strong and usually comes in tiny espresso-size cups. Having just seen the post on Coke Blak, I thought I'd share what I did with the Turkish coffee idea at home:

First I brewed some regular coffee. Then I threw it in a sauce pan on the stove. Next I took a cloth tea bag (you can make one if you can't find them out of cheese cloth) and filled it with one cinnamon stick broke into four pieces, a fourth-teaspoon of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of cardamom, and half a teaspoon of whole cloves. I added about 3 tablespoons of instant coffee to the coffee already made and in the sauce pan. Bring the pan to a boil, with the filled teabag. Cover it and let it steep. Strain the teabag and add sugar to sweeten the coffee. You can also add cream or milk.

It is sooo good! The cloves add a spicy touch (Remember how, when you smoked clove cigarettes in high school, your lips would tingle?) and the cardamom adds a unique Middle Eastern flavor to the dark-brewed coffee. You have to try it!!!! Enjoy!

Of all places, the 99 cent store has this stuff made in Vietnam, called Mocha flavored expresso. I was shocked to brew a pot of it, and damned if the stuff wasn't really tasty. Amazing the deals you find, when you don't look for them.
All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

Ehhh, sounds interesting. Good idea, actually. But the coffee should be finely ground real coffee, not instant.

Using cardamom is very authentic, sometimes you can even buy coffee with the cardamom already in it ( 20 %).

When using real coffee, make sure you don´t actually boil the stuff....just let it simmer gently until there´s foam on top...then,when the foam starts to build up, take it off the stove before it starts to boil.

I make this kind of coffee lots of times, especially when I have guests.

Sometimes I roast and grind the coffee myself, sometimes I buy coffee by Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi, a famous brand in Turkey.

I use a pot/kettle called cezve ( pronounced dshazzve, like Jazz, with -ve at the end).

Coffee is good for you. So are green tea and black tea.

I´m a freak when it comes to coffee and tea. lol

But a conservative freak...at least beveragewise, not politically.
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
