I paid $350 for a leather jacket when I was in high school. It took me forever to save that much but I still felt it was worth it because at the time what else did I have to pay for. It was an awesome black leather coat.

A girlfriend also once spent over $300 to buy me the top of the line Columbia Titanium coat. I wore this sucker for about 7 years and it was insanly warm so it was also worth it.

I primarly only wore two coats this winter and they were both cheaper coats and I was very happy with them both but luckily we didn't have a "Titanium" winter because I didn't have a "Titanium" coat although Amy would have bought me one if I wanted it but I picked out somethign else (Apparantly girls like to buy me jackets smile as it has happened like 3 times). Although honestly the problem with the Titanium coat is that it is so warm you just about die everytime you have to run into a store or what not.

I have like 8 or 9 winter coats and they are all different which is one of the great things about living in a 4 seaason climate - new clothes for each season.

If I spent more than $150 for a jacket here in Tampa, I'd shoot myself.

Exactly if you count all my coats (winter - fall - spring) and my dress coats I bet I have 20 coats and I just gave away like 15 to Goodwill. Amy also has an insane number of coats so when we move in together we are going to have closet issues. Not to mention the fact that we both are clothes whores as well smile

Separate closets should do it. I think it's a must.

The problem is that in my apartment I use my bedroom closet, the bathroom hallcloset, and the hall closet for my clothes and coats and she does the same thing at her apartment. Not to mention our dressers and various storage bins.

So it might be doubtful that we find that many closets in a new place smile Luckily we will be getting a 2 bedroom so that should help somewhat. I've also been clearing out some old clothes to Goodwill and so has she.

What kind of coat/jacket was it?

A black North Face bubble jacket.

Was it worth the money?

Yes. It's well made and durable. It took me a while to buy it because I went to several stores to try on various sizes and models before I plopped down my money.

When you wore it, did it make you feel composed, grounded and secure that you could meet any social challenge?..lol

Yes. I felt really hip and it kept me snug in the snow. I can wear it with most outfits and look cozy and chic.

When my dad died in 1988, I was given some 8 thousand dollars. I don't know, I guess I was feeling a loss or something when I bought this 500 dollar "IOU" jacket. It was black swead with black leather arms. All the leather and what not was top notch. Very soft, I have never felt leather to feel as soft since. The quality was there too, but 500 dollars worth?

I kept it around, I sometimes wore it. I eventually ended up giving it to my father-in-law. He wore it to fix his car and what not. cry I'm sorry for that part now, but oh well.
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

About $200ish, I think. That would be between a buttery nubuck parka I got a couple years back and a knee-length, black cashmere Calvin Klein trench I got this past October. Got 'em both for a great price. nod

I'm not generally a fan of parkas, because I look like a bookworm posing as B-boy when I dress too "sporty." This one is considerably more refined, though, so I feel good in it. I was going for an altogether different effect with the trench, though -- sort of a sexy, mysterious priest thingy. lol

hmmm They both grant the intended effect, I'm told. So I guess I'm getting my money's worth.

I have four fur coats boxed

The J. Peterman Co. offers a made-to-measure men's bison fur with a HUGE hood and bone toggles that's insanely hot! They're like $1600. I've wanted one for a couple years, but I'd feel guilty -- about spending that much money on pure vanity; about wearing fur; etc.

I've been thinking of looking around for a faux.
