How To Get Over Longing For The Past?

Be it old relationships...
Be it old friends..
Be it some old job..
Maybe even a living situation...
Maybe for some even the high school or college days....

Anything that is in the past, that you wish could be the present..

How does one get over longing for the past?

In other words, how does one get over wanting things to be the way they once were? hmmm

In advice or suggestions would be much appreciated....

by realizing the past wasn't as glorious as you think it was, human natures makes us forget all the normal bad stuff, so we only remember the good stuff. In high school we were akward and insecure. Acne..Puberty..tests..an old job had alot of its bad days. Old friends can always be found and reconnected with call. a living situation..sounds like someone is a little lonely comfort. Once you find a signifigant other (hell, even a fuck buddy) you'll feel better..tonk

Easy.

First, sell all your MJ records. This is always the first step of removing a potentially destructive past and moving on to better things. hug

I am such a sucker for the past, I always had to go to extremes to put myself past it, like move to Paris. hmm

You should realise problems you had before you will carry with you, though. You should face them, head-on. Doing weird stuff helped me place myself oiutside of the situation, so I could handle the past.

Bit with a lil' bypass through Paris, but still.

I'm longing for beer and curry.
When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

Figure out what it was specifically that you loved so much, either the people you were with, the place you lived, the way you were treated, I dont know - anything at all. And find a way to get that again from a diferent situation. Im not suggesting moving to an old neighbourhood or going back to old friends, more like getting a similar apartment that you love, and finding new friends who you can have a similar relationship with. Try to take the positives from every situation in your past and bring them into your present. Not really as complex as I make it sound, just about life choices confused
