ever hear of that song "Tequila"? I met one of the guitar players from that track!! he's a patient at the CTCA here, and he was chatting me up while my sis and i were waiting for an appointment. he is such a nice older gentleman. he said he knew who i was, even though i didn't. i was like "WTH!?!" i asked him who i was, and he said "Miss Oklahoma. aren't you?" i said "no" and he said, "has anyone ever told you you're not?" i said "no", he said "well, there you go." he also said i was almost an angel, cuz i'm halfway to heaven already! (yeah, i'm tall, i know! )

so then he started telling us about how he played piano and guitar. and he said "i bet you've even heard me play." he said a song he played was in a big movie, that many people have seen. i asked which one, and he said "pee wee's big adventure." it's been so many years since i saw that movie, i had no idea what he could be talking about. so, he told me "tequila"



he said that they got there to the studio and had to record a song, but dave had had too much jose cuervo the night before, so they just told him to yell something. he yelled "tequila!" the song was supposed to be a B-side song, and they didn't even stick around to hear the playback. about a month later he got a call from gene autry who said he had bad news. so buddy went to the studio, and gene told him a DJ had played the wrong side of the record, and Tequila was a hit!

so cool that i met an original session player for The Champs, and have heard his guitar playing on one of the most recognized songs ever.
