It's bitter-sweet. So honest and so heartbreaking, and yet... a happy ending in spite of the tragic turns getting there.

woot! Kevin!

No - but you know how it ends with his litle teasers at the bottom "see a healthier Mewes in trailer" and in the opening chapter about JM celebrating three years of sobriety...

Since the gossip sites have seen fit to print only the portion of the Jason Mewes story I told at UPenn (that portion being what said sites seem to feel is the only interesting aspect of Mewes’ life), I figured why not put the whole tale of Jason’s battle with drug addiction into print here, where folks can get a better idea of who Jason truly is and maybe why he fell victim to heroin abuse in the first place. I’m thinking it’s gonna be at least a four-parter, and I’m hoping to wrap it up by April 6th, the day Mewes celebrates his “Sober Birthday”, when Jay will mark his third straight year of living completely drug and alcohol free.

At the least, it’s a more comprehensive profile at a guy who’s accomplished a lot more than celebrity bathroom sex; at the most, it’s an ode to a very unlikely hero of mine and a man I love (in a decidedly hetero way).

Enjoy.

I am a fan too! Chasing Amy is also my fave of his movies. Did you see "An Evening with Kevin Smith"? Also very funny - he's an excellent storyteller.

I just finsihed it - and I'm kinda choked up touched

“You don’t gotta live like that no more?”
Looking out at the quiet morning landscape of the Hollywood Hills, Mewes took a draw on his cigarette and uttered six simple words:
“Not today, sir. Probably not tomorrow.”

That observation contained more power and magic than any method of forced rehabilitation I’d crammed down his throat over the years. The man had paved his own path to Hell, and with those six words, he’d paved his path OUT as well. It was the closest thing to a display of heroism I’d ever personally bore witness to.

Kevin: “See? There ARE benefits to staying clean.”
Jason: “Oh, Hell’s yeah. I was thinking about it yesterday: I been living here a month now, since I got out of rehab. And in one month, I’ve had sex with twenty eight different girls.”
Kevin: “GOOD FUCKING GOD!!!”
Jason: “That’s a lot, right?”
