What is up with Shriners? I was not going to get on the org tonight as I have yoga this evening and very little time to spare, but I am interested in learning something....
Why do Shriners wear fez and why do they meet at a Moroccan Temple? None of them appear to be Moroccan, in fact most seem to be dirty old men that are drunk most of the time in their silly red fez with a tassle hanging down one side and decorated with sequins and rhinestones. On my way home in Atlanta rush hour traffic they are standing - in a busy intersection, mind you - in the middle of traffic collecting money in plastic buckets. For what? And is it worth the few dollars you would make to risk your life by standing in the middle of crazy people in cars trying to get home during Atlanta rush hour? Please help me understand.... And I would rather write them a nice hefty check than see them plowed over by a car during rush hour! "Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive."

I like what Bill Mahr says.
The days immediately following 9/11, America was managing pretty good with-out flying. The only reason so many people take business trips or join Shriner groups is to give them a reason to get away from their families.

They're secret societies that do philanthropic work as well as having secret ceremonies and practising magical arts. Knights Templar and 32nd degree masons are quite high up in the hierarchy of the societies. Also related to the Skull and Bones Society. G Bush is a 32nd degree level ( unless he's moved up) George Sr. is higher and Cheney is way, way up there.
These people run the world. "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"-Dr Seuss

These people run the world. Bush doesn't really strike me as a Philanthropist...

This kind of crap should be outlawed. I've seen it where I live too, and couldn't believe they were doing something like this. They're gonna cause an accident.

I really didn't mean that it's a good thing that the Bushes and Chaney are in these groups. All the politicians in our area belong to these organizations both Republicans and Democrats. I don't mind the charitable works or the mystical ceremonies, it's them running the world that I'm not crazy about.
Oh yeah, They should stay out of the street when they're fund raising. "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"-Dr Seuss
