Here in Oakland, the entire city shakes.
Not from earthquakes, but from car stereos.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA woot!

I live in Silver Lake - once an affordable, artsy kind of neighborhood (when I moved here in 1992 - and THANK GOD for rent control!) with lots of cool cafes, thrift stores and vintage-item and novelty stores (Uncle Jer's... although it hasn't really been the same since Jerry - a 70s hippy dude - sold it) and old school Mexican restaurants (El Chavo - El Cid - El Conquistador). It's now a fashionable place to live and eat and lots of new businesses have popped up:

The area is famous for the annual Sunset Junction Street Fair on the last weekend in August. There are booths that sell art - clothing - FOOD - and all the stores along Sunset are open for biz. And the biggest attraction of all are the bands that play there! Everything from Chakka Kahn (me and Supa saw her last year!) to The Donnas. It's the only time of year that I cannot find a parking spot in front of my building.

f'real! weird thing about minneapolis is that it is a lot like des moines in a lotta ways...when i moved up here, it was almost like i'd never left home. mpls has a lot more things to see/do and it's a little bigger and the winters & summers are a lot more fucked up, but other than that...it's essentially the same damn city.

still, it ain't des moines; the one and only thing i miss about des moines is my dad. other than that, i'm happy that i got the chance to move outta there because i most likely wouldnt've had much of a future ahead of me if i didn't. nod

Silver Lake is kinda unlike any other part of LA, definitely one of the coolest spots.

Back in the day it was a lengendary place in Jersey. Especailly on the board walk, on the beach. It used to be the hot spot, everyone from everythere used to come down to the beach. Bruce Springsteen used to hang out here I heard back in the day before he made it big. Bruce Springsteen even bought the towns High School band new suites and intruments, last year I think. It's a pretty alrigtht place with the beach and everything. But looks kinda fucked up now since they had the riots in the 70's. They fimled a part of the movie "City by the Sea" here a few years ago.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

I currently live in Ottawa, Canada. It's very clean, it's pretty, it's always crawling in tourists and on the surface it's terribly boring and conservative...but if you dig deeper it has some awesome underground scenes.

We have the world's longest skating rink - The Rideau Canal. Yippee do da!
