I also have the 15G 2nd gen. I ended up with a 1G Shuffle as well. They're marvelous little machines. . . beautiful, functional. . . and iTunes is nice software.
I wouldn't have purchased the Shuffle myself, but it has turned out that I actually use it a lot. . . prolly more than my big one. It's VERY light, so great for workouts, and I worry less about breaking/losing it. Seattle Org Invasion July 28th-30th http://www.prince.org/msg/2/177514

Depends. They come in lots of sizes. You can go here: http://www.apple.com/ipod , and click on the different models. They give the sizes in terms of how many songs, as well as gigs. How long does it take to upload a CD to an ipod? (I may actually get one now!) well ususally when you install itunes it'll scour your harddrive for any music you already have on your computer..which is a bonus cuz that works already done for you to rip a cd onto itunes takes maybe about 10 minutes, not too long at all...and once it's on itunes you can plug in your ipod anytime and just drag and drop onto your lil ipod icon and the transfer is almost instant it's also my lil address book, and notebook..i keep all of my special documents on my ipod too

i couldn't imagine having a 60gb. i've had a 40gb for well over a year and i've just recently gotten somewhere close to filling it up. I'm only about half way there, but I love knowing that I could! I don't own one, or any portable music device for that matter. Its not really appropriate for me to listen to headphones at work with people trying to buzz me or call me and I just play my stereo when I'm at home or in my car.
I was also kind of worried it would be one of those things I buy then never use, like those Palm devices. Also, between my wallet, keys, and cell phone, I have enough shit to carry around with me, let alone an IPod.

I'll give it one or two more years before I get me one of those
things. By then they will be 80 to 90 GB for the same money and a shitload of extra's thrown in for free. that's the advantage of being a technology slacker like me, you miss out on the latest fads but you're usually just in time for the perfected top of the range, priced down releases and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

how very true. whenever i do wear headphones on a train, on my bicycle or when walking or at the gym etc, i constantly feel the need to take, or even pull them off again when i think i hear something. it drives me nuts and elevates my bloodpressure to dangerous hights. in the end i have to push the volume all the way up to "earperforation" to be able to zone out all the background noise. and that's when it becomes a hazard to wear one of those things since i would rather have decent hearing than listen to my mp3's at vol 40++ and true love lives on lollipops and crisps
