currently my mother is suffering from a thing called vertigo,i was wondering if anyone here happends to work in the health or medical department. i mean we went to the hospital they told us its basically because of her high blood pressure,but apperently now its vertigo..my question now is does anyone know how to cure vertigo? what drugs are needed to cure her dizzy spells? thank you.

My Mom had that. It was a symtom of an ear disorder in her case. Your mother could try motion sickness pills like Bonine or Dramamine.
There's a lot of conditions that have vertigo as a symptom, your mother should see the doctor again if it doesn't go away.

its been hard..moslty becuase your useless in a case of health..i mean your parents defend you from everything when your young..the lease you can do..is help them our when thier older and sick...all your advices has been helpful..thank you once again.

poor thing! being dizzy is no fun at all I had it really badly as a side effect of kefflex antibiotics, couldn't do a damn thing, couldn't even walk - and I had 2 kids to take care of!

You know, I went to the emergency room one night in January because I stood up from a laying down position and thought the whole house was going to spin into the ground around me... One of the nurses on duty said it was probably an inner ear infection but the doc came back and said it was because of my high blood pressure. This totally freaked me out and when I finally saw my normal doctor he concluded the same as the original nurse and told me to buy some over the counter motion sickness tablets from the local drug store. I purchased a generic drug store brand that was advertised as "less drowsy formula" and by the time I was done with the box all my dizzy spells had stopped.

Well, in my case they were simply called "Motion Sickness II" tablets, a CVS drug store generic. The important thing is the active ingredient : Meclizine HCl 25 mg per tablet. Take one or 2 tablets every 24 hours.

I dealt with vertigo about 3 years ago. It was brought on by stress, though, which I was very stressed out at the time and didn't realize it. Once I made the connection, it pretty much went away. There are times when I get stressed out that it returns, but not as bad as the way it was back when I first experienced it.

If she doesn't improve soon, she has to go back to the doctor. It might or might not be serious, there's no way of knowing until they find the causeof the vertigo.

My grandmother had that. It turned out to be allergy/sinus problems messing with her ears. She should prolly have a CT scan or something if it doesn't go away.

They usually give me Antivert when it happens. The medication knocks me out for hours so I usually can't take it and just have to take it easy until it goes away.
Because your mom has high blood pressure they may need to give her something else to help. My guess is that when her blood pressure comes down the vertigo will go away.

today..well she got real bad today,so bad that we went to the hospital..she saw her doctor..then she gave her a new meds called atonal and mechanin or something like that..the mechanin one helps out with vertigo..right now she's doing so what good..she's starting to eat! so tommorow is another day.
