I hated the show because every character was one dimensional. Sure they tried to change that a bit when Nelli married the Jewish dude. shrug But, not by very much.

Oh my goodness... don't go there. I used to read all the books, and then watch all the shows, just to criticize their treatments of various subjects.

I used to hate Michael Landon. In jr. high, I actually founded an anti-ML club. It was only me and one other kid, but oh well, it was to tick off our teacher who loved him. Now that I'm grown up, I find that he's rather hot. boxed

OH yeah, one more thing... a friend of mine here is the world's expert on LHOTP. He's written books about the subject... and I've done lots of translating for him. One time, I did some interpreting for Karen Grassle, who played "Ma." She's a lovely person.

Oh yeah, my friend works for the company (Imavision) who is releasing the DVDs of the series... my name is in the dedication of this book. redface I have also been known to post on the LHOTP forums on the Imavision site, as "Hesta Sue" because she was the best person on the whole series. Oh yeah, and Imavision owe me money!! Boycott them until they pay me! Kidding.

That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it... It's geeky, but nyah nyah nyah nana

I remember my mom watching that show when I was a kid, and it never bothered me. Recently, my sister-in-law gave my daughter some of the books (my sis-in-law is a big fan of them). Well, my daughter decided to start reading them to me right before bedtime.....

bored zzz

Man, those are the dullest books, EVER! Sure, I see the educational value in my child reading them, but they really couldn't be any more boring if they tried. There isn't even really a plot, just a bunch of descriptions of day-to-day life out in the boonies. I frequently found myself nodding off while my daughter read them (which isn't good, since she's the one who needs to be getting drowsy, not me).

I remember things at least happening on the show, beyond ma cleaning the stove and pa cutting firewood!
