4 MOVIES

I was a total hermit last night. I crawled into bed and watched 4 movies.

First movie:

Private Dicks - Men Exposed

No this was not a porno. It was basically a documetary with men talking about their dicks. Like that doesn't happen every day.

Second movie:

Everything Is Illuminated

I'm sorry but I have this kind of gross crush on Elijah Wood. He looks so young. The movie was quirky and sweet. This is about a boy that collects things. He decides to trace his roots in the Ukraine.

The Dying Gaul

I LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS MOVIE. It had me going. Campbell Scott, Patricia Clarkson and Peter Sarsgaard are the main actors in the movie. They were all incredible. It's about a bisexual producer that is married and has an affair with a screenwriter.

Capote

Another great movie. Phillip Seymour Hoffman was brilliant. Kathy Keener can do no wrong in my book. I'm sure you already know about this movie.

What do you think about these movies.

What did you think of Eugene Hutz? Isn't he amazing in this role?

I love Safraan Foer, btw. His books; mushy

And Liev Schreiber is a gifted director, in my eyes

Yes this movie is sooooo beautiful. Liev Schreiber scares me. He is very gifter. Was Eugene Hutz the hip hop Jewish guy? He was brilliant ans so loveable.

The first time I saw Kathy Keener was in a movie that starred Steve Buscemi. I can't think of the name of it but it was about the making of an independent film. It was hilarious. It did get a little repetitive but it worked. I fell in love with her after that.

A man in his early 30s (keane) struggles with the supposed loss of his daughter from port authority bus terminal in new york, while fighting serious battles with schizophrenia. we can never be sure if the loss is real or imaginary; or whether his overt interest in helping young girls is innocent and of a fatherly nature, or is of a darker, scarier motive. the film is about a search for family, belonging, and the overwhelming need for human connection. it is a disturbing and thought provoking story about real characters dealing with every day life. keanes quest for his daughter and kiras (kira is a young girl he befriends)longing for a nuclear family is what connects them and the audience to a heartbreaking story...

from imdb... really uncomfortable to watch because you dont know what the guy is going to do to himself...or the lil girl.

I have to check it out. I was going to tell you that I watched STAY. I was soooo confused. I'm not an idiot but what the hell.

I did like some of the little nuances and tricks in the film. There was a part that was creepy for me. I noticed the background and different sets of twins or triplets would be walking around. And what was up with the color yellow?

The last four movies I've seen were:

Transamerica - Very funny and touching without being mawkish. Breezes along and seems to be over too quickly.

The 40 Year Old Virgin - Yeah, it's old now but I hadn't seen it. It wasn't what I was expecting at all. I thought it'd be a gross-out comedy and it sort of was, but wasn't. It was sweet.

Mysterious Skin - Disturbing. It's a good film but it upset me a lot. The scene where the crazy ufologist-lady tries to go down on the blonde guy, really stuck in my head more than any other. Moreso than the rape-scene in the bathroom.

Torch Song - Joan Crawford lip-synching her way through a fabulous camp-fest. The Technicolor is so full-on that it looks like her lips are bleeding throughout the movie. There's this terribly incorrect scene where she performs this song called "Two Faced Woman" in mixed-race blackface. It's so wrong but hilarious. She spits out the camp dialogue like an embittered drag queen on Death Row.

She portrays an actress called Jenny Stewart who's rehearsing for her new show called "An Evening With Jenny". To cut a long-story short, her musical arranger quits, due to her demands (even though she offers to pay for his psychiatric treatment) and a new blind arranger is hired. She makes no dispensations for his disability and when he dares to change the arrangement of a song she throws a glass of water in his direction. The blind guy's guide-dog growls whenever Jenny/Joan enters the room. lol. Anyway, the blind guy can see Jenny's "inner beauty" supposedly because he's blind, but you'd have to be in a coma not to notice that she's a complete bitch! My favourite line of the movie was delivered to the producer of Jenny's Broadway show:

If Doctors treated patients, the way you produce shows, we'd all be dead.

lol

I seen Everything is Illuminated Last week. It's right up my allie as far as movies goes. It was very entertaining. I love movies that are not cookie cutter type of hollywood trashdumpsterdiving crap.

Capote: my wife rented this a couple of days ago. We often watch a movie when we are waking up. It was done very well. I like that particular actor, because he is not a sterotipically good looking man. He did a wonderful job on the moive. He is a great actor. As for the movie, I thought there were a couple to many social drinking party shots. I understand this is to show Capotie's acholoism and need for being the center of attention.
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.
You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.
