Go easy on the gym bit, ok? Sweating doesn't cure illness, but rest can. Certainly don't go if you still have a fever at all. comfort

Baby, I'm sorry to hear that you were sick like this. It's possible that you had a "breakdown". Stress manifests itself in many physical ways and if it just builds and build without release, there will be a breaking point. Have you had your apendix out?

I had "stomach problems" for years that turned out to be apendicitis. It started out as "stomach problems" and I would try and control the stomach issue by controling my diet but I was one of the rare cases of recurring apendicitis. It will be accompanied by fever.

Did you have any kind of pain in the lower right of your abdomen, above and to the left of your hipbone? Doctors did not diagnose my problem and thankfully my apendix did not burst any one of the 14 attacks I had in the 5 years to my having it out. I coulda been dead.

well, that's the frustrating thing in all this. medical professionals are always saying "listen to your body" and "trust your instincts about your health" but when i've talked to ***MY*** medical 'professionals', they've been like "yeah, you've been under a lot of stress, but it couldn't possibly have much to do with why you're sick." i personally think it's had a lot to do with the lowering of my defenses - usually i can kick a nasty cold or a fever in two or three days, and this has been taking WEEKS to get out of my system, and the people around me have even noticed how stress has been affecting me physically in the past month or two. i don't think stress is CAUSING the symptoms, but i do believe it's making me much more vulnerable to the crap floating around. my doctor's not trying to hear that, though. i'd like to give him some of my responsibilities and see how well he's doing in a few months. mad

well it took 3 trips to the hospital before I was diagnosed with appendicitis and even the 3rd time they weren't sure. And that was with all the signs and bloodwork to confirm it and they still weren't sure! I had the physical symptoms of it. The bloodwork showed an extremely high white blood cell count, the urine sample showed similar results. The physical exam, well there wasn't one because I would not allow the doctor to touch me. I grabbed his arm and said "DON'T when he reached for where my pain was. All of that and stil they were not positive it was appendicitis.

Well they opened me up and sure enough, my appendix was disintegrating inside of me. Before I had the appendix removed, I was having panic attacks. These attacks were so bad that my arms would go numb from the elbow down and I felt like I could not breathe and my heart was leaping out of my chest. These attacks felt like I was going to die. They were awful.

And when I was talking to the doctor about my sickness I asked him appendicitis would have anything to do with my panic attacks. He said "no, it wouldn't have anything to do with it". In the week before my surgery I had 3 major panic attacks. In the year after having my appendix removed I had a total of three attacks. So obviously my sickness was part of why I was having panic attacks.

You know your body better than anyone and if you continue having problems, you should consult other doctors even if it means spending a little bit of money. I spent 5 years slowly but surely losing my mind because everyone kept telling me there was nothing wrong with me and I was sick as a dog.

When I hear that people just don't recover from apendicitis, it's really a miracle that I had 14 attacks and it never burst. That shows me that God had better plans for my life and he's not done using me smile

thanks for your thoughts, supa - i remember you talking to me before about your appendix problem and all the history there. that's scary stuff. and to answer your question, no - i don't have any reason to think i have problems with my appendix. i do know i have increasing problems with my cholesterol levels, though i'm having a hard time getting it through my doctor's head that it's hereditary.

it maybe a hassle but when doctors don't listen maybe you should switch to another one.

Stress doesn't contribute to illness and cholesterol problems aren't hereditary? Yeah, please get a different doctor. rose

Stress changes your biochemistry. The chemicals that are good for you when you need to run away from a bear are not good for you when they stay in your system for long periods of time. They weaken your immunity, elevate your blood pressure (with the resulting stress on your cardiovascular system), and sap your energy. As you've noticed.

And with your diet and exercise habits, your doctor is an idiot not to recognize the hereditary factors, and put you on meds if necessary (though I imagine you would not be thrilled with that).

Your doc is stoopit.
