Why I've Been Especially Weird Lately (no, really)

Believe it or not, there's an actual REASON I've been more ignorant, obtuse, tentative, flakey, odd, cranky and/or incontinent than usual of late, and just so you all don't think I've lost the plot COMPLETELY, I figured I'd better share:

For the past, oh, three weeks or so, I've been very sick. I'm not quite sure what's going on - I've been to my doctor and had tests done, and they're not finding anything especially horrendous or worrisome, but there are some small things that don't completely check out which may bear some closer inspection.

Also, I think after five months of being in crisis/caretaker mode with my mother's medical situation, the stress just kinda caught up with me and lowered my defenses. Over the past few weeks, things have been okay on that front, so I think my body just decided it was a safe time to break down for a while. I had a nasty fever a week before I went to NYC, and while I was in New York, I was sick the entire time with some kind of stomach problem that was also making me dizzy. When I got back to Chicago last week, I spent most of the week with a 103 degree fever.

I've had three days of bedrest and I'm back to work today, and for the most part I'm feeling better. Not great, but better. I'm hoping to get back to the gym this week and sweat out the last of whatever crap has been in my system. But throughout the past few weeks, I'm sure I've been posting from a really weird cranky sicky place, and I hope I haven't ticked anyone off any more than I usually do.

Anyway, that's all. We probably shouldn't kiss for now. hug

I've had the shits since saturday night. I woke up at 06:30 this morning and between then and 08:00, I went to the toilet three times. I had to ring into work ill. I mean, I'm not feeling particularly ill, but I'm not going to work like this. It's icky and embarrassing. I'd better not get 20 questions tomorrow from my boss.

I haven't eaten since Sunday lunchtime - I daren't. I tried to eat some cheese pie yesterday and it started a volcano in my lower intestine. I've just been drinking weak tea with slices of lemon in, since then.

believe it or not, i've hardly had any coffee over the past week. the last "real" coffee i had was in new york last tuesday. i had a cup of weak watered-down diner coffee in their tiny diner coffee cups yesterday morning, but that can hardly count compared to what i usually guzzle. i get a little nauseated when i see someone walking around with a starbuck's venti cup. ill

You could have mono. It's often hard to diagnose. And occurs when you experience times of great stress.

I had it about 8 years ago. What solved it was keeping a positive attitude, eating healthy, and limiting the amount of stress I dealt with daily.

I understand the caretaker part of our delima. My mom is getting into her older years and will eventually move in with my sister/brother-in-law, but I'm feeling a tremendous amount of responsibility about chipping in and ensuring that her last years aren't spent in a nursing home. And just the thought of it, let alone the day when that happens, is stressing me out.

well, one thing you said is ringing true - i've been forced lately to limit the amount of stress i deal with on a daily basis. at work and with family, i've had to tell people to tone it down because i just can't jump through the hoops when they whistle or engage in a bickering match when they're in the mood to have one. i think i've surprised a few people recently, but maybe it's a good thing. i've had no choice lately but to tell a few people to back the f*ck off.

hug I am certain it will all come together soon enough.... Nothing prepares us for that moment in life. Oddly though, my parents are 59 and 66...they are just now coming into that situation with my grandparents. Its never easy and they struggle with what to do..

I wish you peace and a lack of stress..... Your gym routines should help some...and letting go a bit (Like I hear you are doing by backing workers and family off a bit ) will also....
