When you really wanna go out..

..but nobody to go with,

do you just say *Fuck It*

and go on your own anyway?

biggrin

I did alot at uni, cos I worked late, so went out on my own after work, knowing all my friends would be out anyway, but didnt phase me going to a club on my own and stuff

also with me travelling so much, I ended up going out on my own (met loads of ppl in the process and had some amazing (and sometimes wild nights)) rarther than spend the evening in my hotel room, clicking the remote control...

So what do you/ would you do?

cool

There was a period when I just used to walk for hours alone on the streets during night time. Just watched the gorgeous women, jealously, and the gorgeous women and their ridiculous-looking boyfriends lining up to the clubs. Standing there for hours. It's a strange existential experience, because when you're observing it as an outsider, you'll realize it's actually a very small percentage of people that are genuinely having a fun time going out. Most people just look grumpy, tired and fucked up. And no amount of fishnet stockings or white PVC jackets is going to hide the fact that they have really no idea why they are there. confused

I'll see movies and go out to eat on my own, but I generally don't go out looking for trouble alone. I need help for that. giggle

Hmm intersteing.. I dont know if I am capable of answering this correctly.. the lights are off, I am typing in the dark and the wine is flowing

I get what u r saying

I see some ppl going out, ritually.. but prolly dont have as good a night out as last, but its habit, routine..

I like to really look forward to goingf out, or go somewhere spontaneously

there are times when I find myself alone and I wanna go out, so I just do

I meet alot of ppl and have a great laugh..

I just dont do it by the book as to say - I just with the flow...

i used to when i lived in new york, because i'd end up running into other friends at the local watering holes anyway, and it was just kind of a normal thing for people to do where i lived...just grab a drink after seeing a show or shopping or working or whatever. it's not so much like that here in chicago, but i still really enjoy going out to dinner by myself sometimes, or going record shopping or book shopping or whatever. why not?

Its weird

the reason I brought this up is well, I can walk into a bar.. or strut lol and go ask for a drink

some friends however, if meeting me, prefer to wait outside cos NO WAY will they go into a bar on their own

well 9/10 I am late anyways, and they look a real pussy waiting out ion the cold for 30 mins or more, so why not just go the hell inside the place, buy a drink, defrost and get to know the ppl inside, rather than standing outside like a hooker popsicle with no mates???

I always just go to a place., friends or no friends and make myself comfortable

I mean whats the big problem?????

i agree. some people are weird about that. i think it's just a matter of having the confidence to enjoy your own company and to be receptive to talking to new people. i used to love going out by myself on weekends when i lived in new york. it's how i made a lot of my friends when i first moved out there. i met people, then i hung out with them and met their friends, then they became friends, and so on and so on. it's just simple networking. i think some places are more comfortable for that than others, and i think some people are better able to do that than others.

Yes, I love to go out alone sometimes.

But going out with friends provides a bit of emotional backup.

I think also, it is easier for a guy to hang out at a bar alone than a girl

just seems so

but when I first went to NY, I found myself in an Irish Bar, chatting to the barman

before I knew it, these *cowboys* were buying me drinks.. I had a whole lot lined up

They were conctruction workers, but I called them cowboys cos I am sure by memory one or two wore stetsons (late 90's lol)

but sheesh

I popped in for one beer

came out having about 10! omfg

asked the barman for a receipt for a meal (dodgy stuff)

and was zigzagging down the road flagging down a cab to take me back to my hotel

(funny thing was, was the barman lived about 2 streets away from my cute manchester UK pad and was working in NY for a few years - lucky or what?)

I go through stages of travelling due to work so am used to eating alone. I love watching people trying to work out why a woman is out eating alone. Once they work out you are travelling alone then I usually find the waiter hits on you, especially in continental Europe nod

I find it funny as you can gets loads of free drinks lol I don't usually go out to bars alone though. I am always careful to not give out the wrong signal and never tell anyone where i am staying.

I think it's really cool you have the confidence to go out by yourself. I like to be by myself alot of times too and go places alone sometimes..like to cafe or shopping...but I don't know if I'd go a club or bar without a girlfriend in tow or my boyfriend. Being a woman I'd be afraid of getting hit on.

I was gonna say... you can get hit on anywhere or anytime, what's to be afraid of? lol

Of course, wandering around at night alone as a woman is not always the best idea. And safety can certainly be a concern.

I agree, I just dont like it. I guess I'm not really interested in guys I dont know very well, and I dont really trust the guys who hit on me in clubs! To be fair though, most of them (here anyway) are drunk and sleazy and only after one thing anyway. Besides Im still on strike from men. hmph!

I love to be by myself, and I love people watching so I dont really mind going out by myself. But Ive never gone out to a bar or something by myself. I might one day but at the moment I'd rather stay in than go by myself shrug
