I LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS MOVIE. It had me going. Campbell Scott, Patricia Clarkson and Peter Sarsgaard are the main actors in the movie. They were all incredible. It's about a bisexual producer that is married and has an affair with a screenwriter. M Campbell Scott There is something about him. I thought he was incredible in LONGTIME COMPANION. The last part of that movie makes me weep uncontrolably. M MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! Transamerica - Very funny and touching without being mawkish. Breezes along and seems to be over too quickly. The 40 Year Old Virgin - Yeah, it's old now but I hadn't seen it. It wasn't what I was expecting at all. I thought it'd be a gross-out comedy and it sort of was, but wasn't. It was sweet. Mysterious Skin - Disturbing. It's a good film but it upset me a lot. The scene where the crazy ufologist-lady tries to go down on the blonde guy, really stuck in my head more than any other. Moreso than the rape-scene in the bathroom. Torch Song - Joan Crawford lip-synching her way through a fabulous camp-fest. The Technicolor is so full-on that it looks like her lips are bleeding throughout the movie. There's this terribly incorrect scene where she performs this song called "Two Faced Woman" in mixed-race blackface. It's so wrong but hilarious. She spits out the camp dialogue like an embittered drag queen on Death Row. She portrays an actress called Jenny Stewart who's rehearsing for her new show called "An Evening With Jenny". To cut a long-story short, her musical arranger quits, due to her demands (even though she offers to pay for his psychiatric treatment) and a new blind arranger is hired. She makes no dispensations for his disability and when he dares to change the arrangement of a song she throws a glass of water in his direction. The blind guy's guide-dog growls whenever Jenny/Joan enters the room. lol. Anyway, the blind guy can see Jenny's "inner beauty" supposedly because he's blind, but you'd have to be in a coma not to notice that she's a complete bitch! My favourite line of the movie was delivered to the producer of Jenny's Broadway show: If Doctors treated patients, the way you produce shows, we'd all be dead. . [Edited 4/3/06 15:08pm] Yeah, I had to take a shower after MYSTERIOUS SKIN. I felt all ughhhh!!!! I am a huge fan of GREG ARAKI. This movie was a little different for him. I think it's the first time that he didn't do an origninal piece. It was adapted from a book. M MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! I think what makes it worse is that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is genuinely hot in this movie and I started to feel like a dirty old man whenever he was on screen. God knows how he got the pre-teen actors to film this without emotionally scarring them. I guess a lot of body-doubles were used and they were directed to act by trickery. You know, like: "Pretend your shaking a milkshake" and so on... Then again, some children are sexually-precocious - like the Neil character in the story - but acknowledging this is a bit of a taboo. I don't think I'd read the book. The movie depressed the fuck out of me.

I was going to buy Geisha and Capote in Barnes and Noble tonight! Damn! I should have got them! I bought a bunch of books, two new journals (I have been writing my ass off lately! Go figure! ) and a box of Tarot cards! I have no idea what possessed me but I did! I mean I know what possessed me but I got them anyway. Miguel, can I come over and get Capote? I like that particular actor, because he is not a sterotipically good looking man. He did a wonderful job on the moive. He is a great actor. As for the movie, I thought there were a couple to many social drinking party shots. I understand this is to show Capotie's acholoism and need for being the center of attention. i think he should have played capote: Space for sale...
