she writes a lot like john irving does. very slice of life, and then out of nowhere - crazy shit bordering on the silly.

I've only read about half his books so far. Hotel New Hampshire and Garp were actually the last 2 I read. They both had some cra-zazy shit going down. I think I preferred Hotel New Hampshire though. Owen Meany is prolly my favorite thus far...

highfive

I recommended it to everyone I know. No one read it.

In the end I got my mother to read it. She loved it.

I may read The Bluest Eye next... hmmm

and i've had to double back reading her stuff too lol i think she's a hard read but its worth it. i really like the way she uses words to describe something, a situation or how her charactor is feeling or thinking in a way that i can easily imagine but cannot explain in words myself.

I loved Song of Solomon, and I did read another book which I can't remember the title of - about the 2 old ladies, can't even remember the plot now either redface

I'm reading The Greatest Man in Cedar Hole, entertaining enough so far. I have A Suitable Boy on my shelf to read next, should take me about a year to finish since I only read a bout 5 pages at a time.

I should re-read that one as I don't remember it super well any more. I've not revisited ANY of his books yet. I usually only do multi-reads with Vonnegut or Robbins...

Tough Guys Don't Dance--Norman Mailer. I'm enjoying it. It's a page turner hard boiled style murder mystery, but it's well written, not just schlock.
