i can't speak from a vegan perspective, but as a lifelong vegetarian, there are tons of meat-free dishes you can make that don't include soy...in fact, you probably already eat some of them! a lot of the meals i make for myself are rice-based. i'll make stir-fry or i'll mix store-bought simmer sauces with mixed veggies and serve that over rice. also, i've recently discovered the joy of frozen breaded eggplant slices - slap a few of those in a sandwich with a bit of barbecue sauce and you've got something that's even better than a soyburger. I feel like if I became a vegetarian where wheat, soy and rice were a big part of my diet, my allergies would go off the deep end. Although, maybe if I mixed it up a little I could accomplish it. Honestly, though I love eating meat and see no reason to stop. It's something I'm not allergic to and I like it. I just got into sushi and I wouldn't want to give that up, either. I do actually like the taste of soy milk--and I started drinking it because of Prince's line in "Animal Kingdom"--but I no longer drink it because of my allergy.

I have no idea--my ENT doctor just tests on rice(no delineations), which I assumed means white rice. But perhaps it covers all rices. If I have the choice(like in a Chinese restaraunt) I usually go for brown because it's healthier. I love Fruity Pebbles too, and they're rice. Seriously, my diet's awful

Seriously, my diet's awful well, i was just thinking that you might be okay with wild rice or organic rice, but i'm the last person to know about such things. i just couldn't imagine having to worry about the rice in my diet...sometimes i just like a hot bowl of rice with sweet and sour sauce as a snack or even as a light meal. how are you with pasta?

Anx is right that you might be ok with wild rice, though. In any case, that is a CRAPPY set of allergies to have. Tying to avoid wheat and rice would be a royal pain in the ass. Since my allergies kind of criss cross(and cover all the major food groups) I don't really cut anything completely out of my diet, but I do watch my intake. I just have to control how much and how often I eat stuff I'm really allergic to. Moderation in all things like my man Benjamin Franklin said Haven't hear of Almond milk. Maybe I'll give that a try sometime.
