my kitty is sick and i'm worried




Hey everyone I took her to the vet and well...all seems iffy right now. Her drooling had gotten worse and she refused to open her mouth and she had a really bad odor coming out of her. The vet examined her and was surprised she was eating and stuff. She has "ulcers" on her tongue and on the roof of her mouth. I freaked out cause I didnt evne know this. WE TAKE REALLY GOOD CARE of my cats and they are indoor cats. Anywho...she said it was probably an infection from something and that she needed to be tested for feline leukemia again. And my heart dropped cause she said that is something we needed to test her again to make sure that wasnt the cause of it. Also...shes getting all this blood work done and for now shes on antibiotics. Tomorrow I' mgetting a call on the feline leukemia test. She tested negative when she was 3 months and she said that she just needed to be tested again...I juts didnt like the sound of it. I gave her the medication as soon as I got home....she ate a lot! and she was walking around and purring and coming up to me and bumping her head against my hand...so thats a great sign! She wasn't even doing that for the last few days. I'm really worried because if she has leukemia so do all my other cats since they are all indoor and play together. And I don't think I can handle putting down five cats...I'll go insane..really.

shes like really depressed
and shes like got a lil drool and smelly breath and we're gonna take her tomorrow to the vet but she looks sooooo saaaaad I'm scurred

Hopefully it's nothing.

omg im so scared i just cleaned her mouth a warm towel shes drooling a lot she had like a lot of stuff and it smells wretched!!!!! omggggg and its too late to take her to any dr

With the drooling, I'm wondering if she ate something that she should not have had. Are there any emergency vet places where you can take her? Poor kitty, it makes me sad to hear about sick cats.

If your cat has bad breath, it could be very serious and a visit to your veterinarian should not be put off. The following symptoms should prompt you to act immediately.

A sweet, fruity scent could indicate diabetes, especially if your pet is drinking or urinating more than usual.

A urine-like odor might mean kidney disease.

A mouth odor that vets describe as "foul," when accompanied by loss of appetite, vomiting, swelling of the abdomen or yellowing of the eyes or gums, could indicate liver disease.

Excessive salivation, drooling, swollen gums, loss of apetite could be an indication of tarter buildup and/or gum disease.



it smells like really foul like nasty it smells like...spit its so gross and i feel so bad for her cus shes so dainty and clean

Even if you don't trust the 24 hour place, I would take a chance and get your kitty there ASAP, If you wait until tomorrow, it might be too late.

it's her teeth. I am willing to bet. Bad kitty breath = bad kitty tooth. Is she meowing a lot? usually they do.

Yeah, dental disease is the most likely thing. And the most correctable thing (though it can be expensive).

There are other diseases that will cause those symptoms, though, either due to oral ulceration, or due to nausea (with the bad breath coming from the underlying disease. . . here I'm thinking of renal failure).

Hopefully/probably it's the teeth.

It's so hard when the lil critters are sick.

You get mad when they shred your couch or poop in your shoes, but when they're sick there's no worse feeling.

I hope the medication the vet prescribed has her well and healed soon.

She's a very pretty kitty.
