Why do the stores wrap sneakers in plastic?

hold up...i was born & raised in the ghetto, and i've seen folks wrap plastic bags around their hair in lieu of a doorag/jerri curl cap n'such...but around sneakers? only when folks put their new shoes away. shrug

oh lol well live in chicago, and i'm from englewood area. the main shopping places for the broke is 63rd and Halsted and 47th and Ashland. and they both do that. i've never took the time to think about it. i want to say its for display purposes only, but they don't do that in the downtown loop area.

i'll never forget the image i had of the one boy he told me about who had on a fur coat and his pants hangin' off of his ass and having his shoes wrapped in pieces of garbage bags. when my friend asked him to explain the bags he said "these the new Jordans!" neutral

if your gonna wear garbage bags over it whats the point? lol btw, i heard and interview with Nelly and said him and his friends used to put tape on the bottom and sides of their shoes so they could return them when they were done partying. giggle the stores stop taking their returns lol!
