i truely adore cooking... it is an art form nod

i love to spend all day in the kitchen making a meal for my family... i take great care in making foods that are both pretty and yummy at the same time.... i would be very sad if i couldnt cook anymore pout

last week, i made something new for my kids... wasnt sure how they'd like it, but it went over really well woot! we had BBQ country style ribs... sweet and spicy (gotta love it woot!), we call them connies potatoes (most folks call them party potatoes shrug you know, the ones with the cornflakes on top drool), cole slaw, both corn bread and corn bread with peppers and cheddar cheese in it, fresh green beans seasoned just right... and homemade peach cobbler .... it was fantastic if i do say so myself lol

2 days ago, i had my brother and his family over for dinner, i served pot roast (because my 5 year old nephew loves my roast), fresh dinner salad, jello salad, and fresh baked bread.... for dinner we had apple caramel bars that i made for the first time, they were actually pretty good woot!

i love to cook for my dates... its an expression of caring, so much better IMO than going out to eat shrug

i also enjoy taking fresh baked cookies to friends and family....

and at christmas time i spend the last 2 weeks in the kitchen making about 10-15 different types of cookies and then 7 or 8 different types of candies....

yeah, i'd be really sad if cooking wasnt necessary anymore pout

When Im on the go it sounds like a great idea, but I just can't give up a BBQ steak with baked potato and grilled veggies...and so many other wonderful things that give your tounge an orgasm. It may be a quick fix but I can't see a person getting enough nutirents over the long run as eating actual food would give you.

Now if they had all the desserts and they wouldn't cause you to gain weight...thats a whole other subject lol

girl, girl, GIRRRRRLLLL drool

ok, here ya go... take them with ya next time you have to take a side dish, your friends will thank ya wink

melt 1/2 stick butter in frying pan.... chop up one onion and fry in there with the butter. after the onion is fried, add one med. carton sour cream, one and a half cans of cream of mushroom soup, and one package (2 cups) shredded cheddar cheese... melt all together.

in large bowl, stir the above with one bag of country style hashbrowns (the square ones).... put into a 9X13 inch dish. sprinkle with a bit more cheddar cheese, but dont put a whole bunch on.

then, melt the other 1/2 stick butter in frying pan... finely crumble corn flakes into melted butter. sprinkle over the casserole.

bake at 350 for about an hour, or until hot and bubbly..... trust me, this one is FANTASTIC ! its everyone's favorite around here.

any of you guys remember the orginal Star Trek episode when the Enterprise gets hijacked by a ship of people who ate only nutrient suppliments and had no sort of physical pleasures? Remember how they beat them by getting them drunk and feeding them real food?

I don't want to be those people.

The food of the future was in the form of a pill, one for breakfast, 2/3 for lunch and so on. The pills would be different colours and you might have a orange or yellow one say that was fruit and a brown one that was red meat etc.

It would take all of the pleasure out of eating but cut out the hassle of cooking. what do you think?

just something I was reading about today online.

can i have these pills with fries or a cheese burger?

I've thought about this. . .I think it would be nice to have the option. I find cooking to be a major hassle. It would be nice to be able to take pills most of the time, and enjoy food, sort of as an art form, perhaps a couple of times per week.

its about the future where there is no real food and the world is over populated. it was so over populated that people slept packed in the streets and stairways. people that died were just scooped up and carried away. instead the stuff that people eat is stuff that in different flat shapes in different colors like green, blue red, etc. the real food is very rare and you can only buy it underground for extreme prices. there was a scene where this lady was eating some jarred strawberries that were worth hundreds of dollars. the main charactor in the end found out that the different shaped food was the processed product of the dead people.
