A question about iPod Shuffle

Is it good?

my mp3 player was stolen yesterday and I'm thinking of buying an iPod Shuffle 512mb....

Does the battery last?

I'd never go for one less than a gig, but yeah, it's nice. It's wonderful for working out, when you aren't going to be fiddling with it and want something super lightweight.

And I haven't had any battery issues, though ALL rechargable batteries die eventually (people tend to forget this).

The Nano is way cooler, IMHO.

It's ok, but the creative nano products blow it away as far as functionality.

If you have alot of Itune downloads, then you'll want to go with an Apple Player.

I recommend buying the 1 gig iPod Nano for $149 (very competatively priced) if you're looking for a low end player.

If you can afford more, the 4 gig gives you plenty of space.

nod i had a 4gb Nano, but it started messing up, so i took it back and paid the extra $50 for the 30gb video ipod. i LOVE it. if you can spend that much, i'd definitely recommend that. if not, the 1gb Nano for $149 would be my suggestion. WAY better than the shuffle.

The creative nano's are not as sexy as the iPod Nano, but they have FM receivers, voice recording, and lots of configurations. PLUS, they use aaa batteries. The problem with the creative Nano is that you'll want to update the firmware on it if it's not on at least firmware 1.3 or higher(and it is VERY trickey to do with no real good documentation).

But I love my creative Nano. Not as much as I love my iPod Nano mind you.

I've got a shuffle and a full size. The shuffle is great for exercise, and absolutley wonderful at the dentist office when I'm all gassed up on nitrus...

But if I were only going to have one iPod, I'd get the largest capacity nano I could afford, and that's what I'd recommend, though if you're looking at a 512MB shuffle due to price, then I'd recommend the 512MB shuffle...

Personally if you're looking in the 512 meg range, I'd say go with iRiver or the Creative players. They're much better than the shuffle and only for about 40-50 bucks more, if that.

This will be you're problem w/the Apple products, as they don't play WMV files. Contrary to popular belief, they DO play MP3's (as well as AAC's). Most people get around this by burning the WMV's to a "music" CD then ripping them back to MP3 (or AAC).

I'd just like to point out that at that point, your getting close to the 1GB nano pricing, and over the 1GB shuffle pricing...

wma file pose alot of issues with third party mp3 mixing software in Nero and Roxio. I've seen those programs crash when doing audio mixes of wma's.

Well, if you're married to the WMA format and the WMP player, then unfortunately the iPods are probably not for you. While it's possible (though it can be difficult) to use the iPod with something other then iTunes, it is NOT currently possible to play WMA files on them.

Despite that, I'd still recommend switching shrug

have a good night!
