so, monday before last, i turned in my two weeks notice at work because i could not handle the insane and unstable enviroment anymore. too much screaming and mood swings for no reason and too many hours for too little money.

she fired me that day.

whatever.

did some praying and job searching and by this last monday, had two offers on the table which caused a bidding war that put me up to a ridiculous amount of money that no one with my lack of colegic education should be making. it is more than TWICE what i was making before for less hours and a lot less stress.

i got a job as an exective assistant in an investor relations firm. we have medical research and technology clients that we provide investor relations to. it's a fantastic job working for two fantastic women, who are sweet beyond any measure of kindness.

have my own office and everything!

and it gets even better.

ryan, one of my best friends, had an idea for a musical adaptation of a movie we both love. to begin with, i am not big on musicals, especially ones that are adapted from movies (a BIG trend in broadway lately), but it's an idea that WORKS and works well.

he asked me if i would write the book for it, and i said yes.

so we banged out an outline, and he started writing songs and i started working on the script.

last night he tells me that he told another friend of ours tony who is working with disney theatricals as an associate producer about the idea, and tony told maria friedman (a very big musical star of broadway and west end) about the idea, and she WANTS TO BE A PART OF THE PRODUCTION! she said she would love to play the lead role, and is happy to help us in any way she can, from getting meetings for us with producers and backers and going into the meetings with us to help pitch and read from the script and sing the songs, and wants to help us workshop it as well!!

i can't tell you what the project is, because we have not yet secured the rights to adapt it, so anyone could steal the idea at this point. not that any of you would, but better safe than sorry...

in all honesty,though, no. never been a huge musical fan. ther are some i like (rent, hairspray, little shop of horrors, rocky horror, chicago, hedwig, cabaret, 25th annual putnam county spelling bee), but in general i am a nomral theatre snob. i much prefer people speaking and not singing as it gives a threatre peiece a much bigger sense of reality and authenticism.

plus most musicals are just silly.
