Opening the Package to a New CD

Does anyone else have a difficult time opening a new CD?
I was up ALL night the other night watching Tamar and Prince and still made it to work on time and lasted ALL day....I felt like I deserved a special treat because of that effort, so stopped by Borders to buy the new Fagen CD....THEN sat in the parking lot for 20 minutes just trying to get the f-ing wrapper off..... mad.....and I even broke one of short, albeit well manicured, nails!

sorry to hear about your nails, but if it's the cellephane, you could've used your keys? That's what I usually use, but sometimes that security tape can be a bitch...

Just take your key (you do always carry some keys with you, do you?) and drag it across the side of the jewelcase and then just remove the wrapper. It really shouldn't be that hard. lol

the cellophane part you're on your own with, but to get the sticker off the top (this is the gangstafam method, mind you), unhinge the cover at the bottom, then swing the cover up and pull the sticker off by separating the pieces of the jewel case. oh my GOD it's easy.

Tried that...but I have one of those flat-type laser keys that is expensive to replace, so I was hesitant. Oh well, I finally got it open, and it is da bomb, so all is well with the world....until the next time I buy a new CD and it happens all over again!
Yeah, that tape across the top! Gawd...once you have gotten that far opening the CD, why do the manufacturers think that 'security' tape is necessary?

If you run a KEY along it's edges, that usually opens it up.

in europe they're not always packed like that. usually they're
just not wrapped at all. but if they are, i always ask the one
behind the counter "could you please take off the wrapper".

then i enjoy them stunting with it trying to get that f*cking
clingfilm off it.

let them work for their money

Anybody remember the "longboxes" that CD's used to come in? The CD jewel case itself wasn't wrapped, except during a transitional period when they phased out longboxes. These "transitional" CD's were marked with a diamond-shaped sticker on the longbox.

how do they do it?

is it like those tightly wrapped packets of cookies that you just take
in one hand and then give a firm slap from the bottom up so that they
shove out of the plastic wrapper at the top?

confuse

Anxy explained the Renner boys method:

I bought some DVDs the other day, and not only was the damn thing wrapped skin tight with that celophane crap, but ALL THREE sides were taped up with those plastic strips, AND it was in one of those plastic security frames (thankfully the cashier removed that part). I'm thinking to myself, jesus christ it's a freaking $14.99 DVD, not the Hope Diamond.

By the time you get all this stuff off (IF you can get all this stuff off), the case is usually cracked or messed up.

A simple pin usually does the job. Scraping a key against the cellophane may scratch the jewel box.

Why are people carrying pocket knives? What's all that about? lol

The killer is when, on top of all this, they slap one of those big ugly RFID tags right on the case, that won't come off. When you try and pull it off, it rips open leaving some strange metal heiroglyph microchip thingy and a bunch of sticky goo.

Are they seriously that paranoid that someone might steal the DVD? I'm almost half tempted to, just out of spite, LOL.

with CDs, in that plastic wrap, sometimes if you place it flat between your hands and press against it firmly then rub back and forth quickly, it will break the wrapper, without screwing up the case.

How about your razor-sharp wit? Badda-bum... Tish!

Honestly people - a pin will do the job! Find a point on the cellophane where there's a bit of a lip and just poke a pin through.

That is like the "unwrapping equivalent" of making fire with two sticks. You'd be there for hours and your palms would look like you had stigmata! lol

I hate the wrappers on processed cheese too. You always end up with some of the cheese underneath your fingernails (no matter how short they are) and it gives you that really uncomfortable "ugh!" feeling until you scrub the cheese away.
