Most flowers have a 'meaning' behind them, and I think giving them is a nice gesture which can be modified to suit date situations (or other social interactions) of all types --- fancy, expensive arrangements down to small, yet lovely, bouquets. Even a single flower is perfect for some situations.

Giving flowers is a gesture (almost) always appreciated by the givee. It's nice to know someone thought of you, and took the time and effort to give you something beautiful.

One of my best mates is a florist and you should see some of the stuff she does... stunning! She's more an artist, really.

I've been lucky enough to have been given a few bouquets by her. I'm not a flowers person, as such, but it's amazing how much they brighten up a house.

Of the three people I've had long-term relationships with, one of them would sometimes bring me flowers, just 'cause. It was nice. But there are other ways of showing affection. Another was an amazing listener, which is a gift every single day. My current boyfriend has never gotten me flowers, but spoils the hell out of me in all kinds of other (more interesting) ways.

And yes, I have sent flowers to guys on multiple occasions.

And to my mom, 'cause my dad will never get them for her and she likes them.

I do love flowers. So I buy them for myself.
